RE: Learning Plan for High Schooler - bjcheung77 - 06-24-2024 When looking at Pierpont or any college for dual enrollment, it's only recommended to take classes that aren't available from the ACE/NCCRS or alternative credit options such as AP/CLEP/IB, challenge exam, etc, unless the class is something you really are interested in. I highly suggest taking the online sciences as these would be RA, and harder to find from alternative credit options... Thanks for the link, I'll check out the thread. Thank you for sharing, and I completely understand and can relate to the challenges of being left behind academically. It can indeed be tough emotionally and academically. I also faced a similar situation where absences prevented me from progressing to the next grade, despite passing all my classes, tests, and exams, etc. It was tough feeling disconnected from classmates who moved on to high school and worrying about falling behind socially and academically. Regarding my nephew, he currently attends a public school that doesn't appear to have partnerships with College Now for dual enrollment opportunities. I'll need to explore obtaining documentation for approval to join an online dual enrollment program option. I haven't fully researched this yet, but your suggestions have provided insights for revisiting and adjusting our approach. Thank you for your advice. I would also be highly interested in hearing about your experience with this path. We do not live in WV and I am wondering if you do or do not and how much it ended up costing. Their out of state tuition is a bit steep but if we could transfer in a ton of Sophia/other ACE credits it would be worth it. So far our youngest loves it and he’s working through his gen-ed classes with them. He will shortly start his second year & he basically did full-time enrollment (23 credits) for his first year of high school, fully online.(06-24-2024, 12:30 PM)jg_nuy Wrote: My son is attending Pierpont via dual enrollment (AA Liberal Studies track) and they accepted the Sophia credits that he previously took. We like that there are very few prequisites and no placement testing so far. RE: Learning Plan for High Schooler - bjcheung77 - 08-29-2024 You may want to see if Pierpont allows 15 credits residency through Dual Enrollment and the rest to come from ACE classes... I would really like to know, this would be a great Associates option for those who are still under age for university. It's a great option to graduate high school and college with the associates at the same time. RE: Learning Plan for High Schooler - homeschoolmom1 - 08-30-2024 We are definitely also interested in that (15 credits through Dual Enrollment and the rest from ACE), too. You want to avoid that. I am not sure whether Snow College accepts Sophia.Hey could you tell me what courses they accepted from sophia and describe the process of transferring? I’m also from nyc and i’m trying to get an associates degree. I replied on your other post: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Response-times-and-transfer-questions?pid=430313#pid430313 The price for Pierpont dual enrollment is now $60 per credit if you are out of state. The Sophia classes listed on the Wiki for the AAS BOG also work out for dual enrollment in the same way, in our experience with my son. |
