Advice on Transfer Credits for CS and Math at TESU - Frederico.Sandoval - 04-20-2024 Hello everyone! Based on your advice, I've decided to pursue a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics at TESU. As an international student, I need to earn 9 credits from a regionally accredited university to demonstrate my English proficiency. To meet this requirement, I'm considering taking 'Calculus for Engineers' and two other self-paced courses through ASU Universal Learner. Could you recommend any courses that would count as math/CS electives at TESU? I've noticed several CIS courses available, but I'm unsure about their transferability to TESU. Also, which courses do you think are the easiest/most fun? Thanks for your help! My ultimate aim is to pursue graduate studies in quantitative finance. However, I'm feeling a bit uncertain about the workload and requirements for a double major. Could you please offer your insights on optimizing my plan to graduate efficiently while still meeting all necessary criteria? Your advice would be greatly appreciated! RE: Help - CS/Math Double Major for Grad School - Frederico.Sandoval - 05-06-2024 Hi guys! During my search yesterday I found uc San Diego extension, which could be a good way to get ra credits for some courses for cheaper. However, I saw some people saying that they are continuing education credits instead of bachelor's credits and that they are in a quarter system instead of a semester system. Could this be a problem when transfering to TESU? Also do you guys have any suggestions for high level math courses online? The only source I could find is UIUC Netmath, but they are really expensive... I tried looking at the options in the wiki, but I haven't been able to find courses like abstract algebra or complex analysis RE: Help - CS/Math Double Major for Grad School - Jonathan Whatley - 05-06-2024 Sample TESU BA Mathematics Degree Plan Distance Calculus at Roger Williams University RE: Help - CS/Math Double Major for Grad School - davewill - 05-06-2024 (05-06-2024, 05:38 AM)Frederico.Sandoval Wrote: Hi guys! You have to clarify with the extension office which kind of credit a particular program offers as the website listings can be less than clear. Quarter units are not an impediment, you just have to understand the conversion. You take the number of quarter units and divide by 1.5. So a 4 quarter unit class ends up netting you 2.66 semester units. TESU will generally accept that as fulfilling a 3 unit requirement, but you do have to make up the missing one-third of a unit with an elective. For a GenEd requirement, you'll need to make it up in GenEd electives, if in AOS, then you make it up in AOS electives. |
