Is their Ace credit transfer policy as good as TESU? I doubt it will be worse. The downside od UoPeople is that they are not regionally accredited (yet) and likely not as fast to finish as TESU. RE: I want a CS degree and I need help please. - bjcheung77 - 03-08-2024 No only that they're Nationally Accredited, but their administration, financial, learning system, support, and a whole slew of other things don't seem to be on par to getting RA any time soon. There are too many flaws and issues reported by students, they're not 'fixing' those yet, thus it's going to be a delay. I haven't recommended UofPeople, the only program I was interested in was their MEd Advanced Teaching with the IB endorsement, however, someone mentioned it doesn't have any 'content' on IB and their methods of teaching, thus, now there is no program I am remotely interested from them. For context, I plan to obtain a double major in CS and CIS. So for the 15 credits at TESU, the cornerstone and two capstones count as 3 classes, meaning I'd have to pick two more? I'm thinking CIS 107, CIS 351, and ART 1000 to be safe.(03-07-2024, 05:37 PM)gamebradie Wrote: @bjcheung77 thanks for your response. So that means I already have enough RA credits? I already have a mixture of ACE and CC credits. I plan on using Sophia and Study to get most of the remaining credits. And what 15 credits are best to get at TESU to avoid the residency fee? RE: I want a CS degree and I need help please. - bjcheung77 - 03-13-2024 It doesn't have to be classes, you can take E-Packs as well, in total, 15 credits for residency. TECEPS nor PLA will work unless you're military (active service person). Actually, options #2 and options #3 are very similar to a few others I was going to mention, you really just want to do the Pierpont BOG AAS Info Systems, BAS MIS+PM plus 3-4 classes that go towards the MAOL and finish off with the MAOL. You don't really need anything else as you're going to be getting a balanced mix/match of certs, degree, experience on route to completing these degrees. The main thing is you're checking the box for the Bachelors/Masters, your concentration or specialty won't really matter as the Coursera/TEEX and other certs/credits are going to round out your learning/knowledge gaps for Business and IT related subjects. People need to understand you don't need a specific degree to get into a specific field unless it requires certification or licensing and those specifically indicate a requirement for one. The CS and CIS combo is considered two degrees, not a double major. Double majors must come from the same degree and the same school within TESU. For example, you could get a double major in CS and Math because they both Bachelor of Arts degrees from the Heavin School of Arts and Sciences. CIS is a BS from the School of Business and Management. The difference is not terribly important, mainly that there is a limit of two bachelor's degrees in total from TESU and you would receive two diplomas, not one. |
