RE: Degree Planning Suggestions - Lets Try Again - bjcheung77 - 01-11-2024 Hmm, I missed the previous thread last year, to get readers up to speed, I've merged them... Anyways, from a quick view or stand point, I think it's best to get a 'win' and complete a TESU BALS NSM or preferably, UMPI BLS with any minor of your choice, then you can take a set of courses at the community colleges online for all the required sciences, two/three semesters of sciences at NMJC, LUNA, or other online colleges. You also want to make sure you have a backup plan, if that NSU and similar institution doesn't accept you, another similar profession or role, such as NP (Nurse Practitioner), PA (Physician Assistant), etc, they'll all require the pre-med year. BTW, what do you do now as a career? RE: Degree Planning Suggestions - Lets Try Again - pmsull - 01-11-2024 I currently work at the airport. I am a ramper, and work in operations 2 days a week. I have worked a slew of different jobs but never considered them a career. I own some houses. I am preparing to sell one for the prospect of moving to Florida. I do have some back up plans, not totally solidified. There are other CAA programs I can apply to. I am more focused on steps then speed. Check list type approach. I will look into the UMPI BLS. RE: Degree Planning Suggestions - Lets Try Again - pmsull - 01-11-2024 It looks to me UMPI BLS with Management Information Systems Minor would make the best of what I already have. Moving forward from there as far as I understand, I should complete Sophia/ Study courses then apply? Or apply for the session starting 3/11 immediately? RE: Degree Planning Suggestions - Lets Try Again - bjcheung77 - 01-11-2024 Apply, send all transcripts, while waiting, work on classes you know you're missing for the general education, minor, or electives. Sometimes, even if you apply early, people have fallen through the cracks, you can continue working on Sophia.org classes, I wouldn't work on Study.com, always only have one provider subscription open, not more than one... Create a spreadsheet for reference and tracking purposes when you have an evaluation from them, here's the WIKI for UMPI, gen eds, degree plans, etc: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:UMPI RE: Degree Planning Suggestions - Lets Try Again - pmsull - 01-11-2024 Perfect, thank you. RE: Degree Planning Suggestions - Lets Try Again - pmsull - 01-11-2024 Thank you much for your help. You're very welcome, X2 RE: Degree Planning Suggestions - Lets Try Again - pmsull - 02-15-2024 Quick question, I think I inadvertantly caught my transfer credit report in the middle of the assessment. Because I only see 2 schools that have been brought over. Once they assess your credits/tests they would show as either accepted or rejected? I only have like 13 credits transfered out of everything I have and I'm about to loose my mind. RE: Degree Planning Suggestions - Lets Try Again - bjcheung77 - 02-15-2024 TESU or UMPI? Did you accept UMPI's offer? UMPI session hasn't started yet, you'll be getting the evaluation from your academic advisor soon before the session starts in less than a month. It does take time for them to complete everything. My ultimate goal is the Masters of Science Anesthesia with NSU. I am currently leaning towards BA through TESU. I have been able to find a degree plan on wiki for the BA in Biology but not an active degree plan link for a BA in Natural Sciences and Mathematics. I feel there are two ways of approaching my application. One finish my bachelors as fast and cheap as possible then focus on my premed courses required for my application. Or two dovetail the required premed courses into my bachelors. The program requires a bachelors and the following below. I could technically get a bachelors in any major as long as I take the classes below. I was leaning towards the sciences as I like and feel confident in that area of study. But should there be something I am missing that is fast and affordable with regards to finishing the degree I am open to suggestions. I work in anesthesia. I am guessing you want to be an AA? AA school is going to be EXTREMELY competitive. All the competitive applicants will likely have taken science classes at a CC or uni. I would HIGHLY recommend attending a BM school for your BS or at LEAST for your science classes. Also ageism will be working against you...just how it is.... test test test |
