RE: University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign - Pats20 - 10-17-2023 It would seem logical that if you completed the program in good standing that you would be accepted into the MBA program. It doesn’t make sense to offer stackable paths to reject applicants who follow and finish those paths. But they do say admission isn’t guaranteed. UIUC may just say that to cover their bases. RE: University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign - smartdegree - 10-17-2023 UIUC is among the select universities eligible for the UK's fast-tracked residency under the High Potential Individual Visa. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/high-potential-individual-visa-global-universities-list/high-potential-individual-visa-global-universities-list-2022 For $12K, the iMSM not only provides you with a master's degree but also offers a pathway to relocate to the UK. While this may not hold significant value for many in the developed world, it can be invaluable for individuals from less affluent countries looking for better opportunities elsewhere. I am a UK citizen as well and usually they ask for proof that you were in residence. I wonder if Ecctis vets this. I know its a new program but I don't see any guidance out there. Also, it gets you in for some years but doesn't net you a job (which usually comes with Visas). That can be a massive issue and you might be blowing a ton of money moving for no reason. Keep in mind UK salaries are laughably low for most sectors. I guess you get the NHS sort of....they force a surcharge of 1300 pounds per person. NO public benefits. If one does get a job, an employer would need to fork out the money for another work VIsa. It also doesn't count toward the 5 year residency requirement. So its a gamble... They said during the webinar that they typically accept students who follow the stackable path and maintain a min of 2.75 gpa. It's a top ranked school and the Gies School of Business has a strong reputation. The reason I'm mentioning them is two-fold. I did not attend UMich Ross as I had already done an MBA. However, aside from Duke Fuqua (which is where I attended for my MS), Ross is one of my favorite B-Schools. Great programs for sure. RE: University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign - bjcheung77 - 10-18-2023 U of I - Urbana Champaign IMSM is a 'good enough' degree on its own, some people would like to ladder that up to the IMBA but there really isn't a need to. I mean essentially it's already 30 credits and a full masters, with a major/concentration in Management, plus has AACSB. For those needing/wanting to get into a leadership/management position in whichever field or industry they're in, this would already check the box, similarly to an MBA. If I choose this route, that may be my stopping point. |
