Once you are an enrolled student, you will need permission to transfer in further classes. Since you have already applied, you may want to defer enrollment after you get your evaluation back, to allow you to fill out the GEC (gen eds). Oh wow, okay good to know! Yes, my Intro to Chem class had a lab. Thank you! OK, I am getting a little confused in all this. I am trying to make a spreadsheet of all the requirements that I can check off as I go. I am just unsure on how to know which Sofia courses to take vs the ones I already have, and if I shouldn't enroll to get a degree audit from them until after I already have all my Sofia units... that feels like a Paradox. What is the correct order of operations? The wiki is great, but does not obviously give me individualized credit specfic answers. And on top of that, I am not sure I even applied correctly. I went through the University of Maine system, and applied to and sent my transcripts to UMPI directly. Is that application still valid or do I have to apply through YourPace separately? RE: Formulating a NEW Plan - rachel83az - 06-21-2023 You need to apply specifically for the YourPace program, otherwise you'll be accepted as a regular UMPI student. That's comparatively expensive. For your specific credits, I'd guess:

That's comparatively expensive. OK, I have appilied for that but selected the seond term availabe to give myself time to add Sofia units. So I have (most likely - barring differnecs in audit) completed: 1A - Writing with a clear purpose, point of view, and audience. 1B - Engage primary & secondary sources, documentation systems. 1C - Deliver effective communications 1D - Written & oral communication; explore ideas & challenge assumptions 2C - Identify evidence/findings, and evaluate the quality of reasoning behind arguments, interpretations, and/or beliefs 3A - Mathematical Models 3B - College-level math 3D - Environmental or physical processes 3E - Lab science 4B - Distinguish scholarly, professional, and popular sources; determine quality 5A - Knowledge of diverse world views 5B - Historical contexts Plus likely four elective courses coming in my prior credit as well. What is the full list of remaining things I need to hit? I am viewing the UMPI Degree plan laid out here to better educate myself, but it is not laid out this same way as 1A-5B so I am getting confused again. Getting a clear degree plan list together is really hard for me to figure out. Here is what I have so far... and I would need to take 30 courses (90 units) to complete the program here. Is that right? It doesn't feel right. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sJBdnRjhICcdMvNtA7lesDxZZrgio2aGxQws6XD6RBY/edit#gid=579324670 RE: Formulating a NEW Plan - rachel83az - 06-22-2023 I think you are looking at the main degree plan that does not include the GEC? The GEC are the same for everyone, so it doesn't make sense to have it on the page for BA History, AND BA Accounting, AND BABA Mgmt/Leadership, etc. Check out https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UMPI_Sophia_Transfer_Equivalents to see what you can do at Sophia. RE: Formulating a NEW Plan - allvia - 06-22-2023 You need to complete at least 30 credits (10 courses) with UMPI, the rest can be transferred in. Sophia offers whatever you're missing for GEC as far as transferring in. Which UMPI YourPace degree/concentration did you end up applying for? It needs to be business focused but if there is something that is faster, I would certainly consider that. Got it. What else can I take at Sofia beyond the GECs that counts towards the to minimize my amount of units at UMPI? I imagine that will keep costs down. RE: Formulating a NEW Plan - rachel83az - 06-22-2023 Check out the wiki links already posted for degree plans. At the very least, you can fill your electives with Sophia. RE: Formulating a NEW Plan - JobaJoba - 06-22-2023 OK, I think I figured out my issue. I wasn't factoring in my ability to count some GEC courses as double units. So I believe I have: Total GEC Credits: 24/40 ULL Credits: 6/40 Elective Credits: 30/40 (If Accounting Transfers, If Not Drops to 21) Total Credits: 60/120 (Or 51) Which is great! That means I only have to take 20 (or 23) courses, not 30 like I orginally had on my linked spreadsheet. Here is my question though: Needing 40 units of Elective, ULL, and GEC Credits seems like a strange number when you get 3 units per course as UMPI. Is there 4 unit courses that work to round off that multiple of 3 in each category, or do you need to take 42 units of each (which would mean 3 extra courses). Or potentially take only two extra courses (one ULL, and one GEC that can count 1 of the 3 units towards the elective category?) This degree does not have 40 elective credits. This is directly from the website: The program includes 40 credit hours of general education courses, 59-62 credit hours of business core/Management and Leadership Concentration courses, and 18-21 credit hours of electives. https://online.umpi.edu/degrees/undergraduate/baba/management-leadership/ RE: Formulating a NEW Plan - bjcheung77 - 06-22-2023 Furthermore, you don't need to take 20 courses at UMPI, you take only the bare minimum (or at least close to the minimum of 10). Some courses can't be transferred into UMPI as there are no equivalents from Sophia.org, Study.com, or another provider such as some of the upper level requirements. For most people who are starting off, they should take the upper level requirements entirely through UMPI, for those who have some upper level to transfer, make sure you have enough credits that are upper level that will go into the Major & Electives. Note: Unfortunately... For all degrees, there are specific requirements for UMPI degrees with a major, concentration, or minor... At least 30 credits must be taken at UMPI At least 12 credits in the major/minor must be taken at UMPI At least 9 UL credits in the major/minor must be taken at UMPI Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Upper-level-electives-from-study-com |
