3rd degree at TESU - jch - 09-08-2022 (09-08-2022, 09:51 AM)jsd Wrote: Advisors at TESU are notorious for giving out incorrect/outdated information. Like all TESU policies, students can apply for a waiver. I'm actually about to do so; I'd like to use up my miscellaneous extra CIS/CMP credits in a BSTS-Computing degree. When did you ask? And you have one TESU degree, one not TESU degree, and inquired about a second TESU degree (3rd overall)? If this is the case I guess this is important. It is not only Jsd, I think quite a few people who already had one TESU degree are doing this right now. [/quote] About 2 weeks ago. And yes, one TESU and one non-TESU RE: 3rd degree at TESU - rachel83az - 09-08-2022 (09-08-2022, 11:10 AM)borrs Wrote: i feel having a 3rd bachelors loses meaning at that point. If I was a hiring manager, I'd be more skeptical than impressed, to see 3 bachelors degrees in someone's CV. Certificate, Associates, Masters or even bootcamps would make more sense after the 2nd Bachelors. Nothing requires you to list every single degree or certificate that you've ever earned. Indeed, CV/resume writers often advise trimming it down, tailoring it to each company as much as possible. Someone who has multiple degrees and several certificates might only list a single degree and no certificates on their CV at any one time. RE: 3rd degree at TESU - bjcheung77 - 09-08-2022 And someone who is applying towards a third degree (second one at TESU) may want to verify again with their advisor that subsequent degrees are an option. Previous it was just two degrees, but recently they may have allowed two degrees from TESU specifically. I haven't dug deep into that change if any yet... Last month, I hired for what is my company's entry level Associate Fraud Analyst position and the criteria listed includes a BA in a quantatitive field, CJ, business (or Associates with additional 2 years experience); and ONE industry certification like Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS), Certified Anti Money Laundering (CAMS) or one of the various IT certs OR 4 years conducting investigations for law enforcement or government. So the min qualification would be Associates in relevant field, 2 years experience, and like ONE cert. OR four years investigation for LE or gov't without any of that. We did not interview a person that had an Associates in Business and no industry certs but listed their education as Masters level. On the CV, they had a MA in English and a BA in English as well. It's great but not relevant. The interview team (3 of us) decided that they didn't really read the posting because they did not meet the qualifications. We hired a person with an Associates in Criminal Justice from their local community college; had certification as a CAMS and wrote bank suspicious activity reports for 2 years. I'm not sure what their salary was at a bank, but we offered $38/hour and they took it in a minute. They are on board and are killing it - they filled a gap on the team we didn't have covered before. Tailoring your CV or resume to the job you are applying for is one of the least understood and most effective part of job-seeking. Remember that your resume is just to get you to the first interview, you can talk about everything else there. |
