Now, they're considered legit. I think they were put on the naughty list way back when (prior to 2005?) because they were not accredited. Once you get on those lists it can take YEARS to get off. Texas is not a forgiving state. RE: Talk to me about California Coast University - Vle045 - 04-20-2022 I talked to her a little bit today about how things go with the courses there. So, here’s what I found out, in case anyone is curious. Basically, each course has 4 units. Each unit ends with a 25 question quiz and small paper (3-4 pages) and ends with a 100 question final. Quizzes and tests are open book. No interaction with instructors. Just feedback on the papers. You choose your own proctor for the final who basically just gets you access to the test. No video or anything like that. There’s no tutoring and no writing center. It’s basically just you reading a textbook and then answering questions and writing about what you learn. They do accept ACE credits, for anyone who is interested in that. But i don’t know how much they accept. I don’t know…. Seems kind of over-priced if you are basically teaching yourself. Might as well just learn on Saylor Academy. California Coast University was banned in Texas because the coursework they required was considered "substandard." I’ve talked to a lot of schools recently. Some have really knocked my socks off. This one has not. Maybe if it was a lot cheaper. Seriously. What is the overhead? No tutoring. No writing center. No videos. No interactions. No job placement or career center. Although, I guess it works for my co-worker. It’s useful in her current job and she’s getting reimbursement for most of it. They're pretty good with their overall reviews, however, that being said, I would still recommend you evaluate your options for your future studies. If you can get an RA at the same price or similar, I would shoot for that first before considering NA/CCU. Find something that is interesting to you and worth the ROI/Value.Hi, What is HAU? THANX!!! When I got my MA from the University of Toronto, there was no "writing center." If you can't write or if you don't want to write, grad school is not for you. Just a thought. At here and “the other” forum, you’ve been shilling for Tech Global University, telling others that “you’d go for it” and reminding them not to miss the $2000 discount pop-up ads, and gave a lecture on RVOE . Whatever. So let me understand your logic- you recommend Americans to pick a new spanish school (under Aula whatever) that offers shady “degree” programs like “Masters degree in MBA in Marketing,” (which is a joke), a school that maintains a fake Forbes website with fake endorsements, and not to mention, all the difficulties students complained about in getting official transcripts and the silly task of paying more fees to have a "real school" certify the legitimacy of its degrees, yet you have a problem with California Coast which has recognized accreditation and none of Tech’s dubious practices? You are wayyyyy ahead of yourself and the Secretary of Education. On encountering somewhat critical – and in this case nuanced – reviews on a consumer forum, please avoid casting aspersions on and certainly refrain from personal attacks against the reviewers. Vle045 and sanantone's comments on California Coast are nuanced, and sanantone's comments on Tech Global are nuanced and skeptical and certainly not shilling. Traditional universities, including the University of Toronto back in the day with which I'm familiar, had plenty of close support even hand-holding available to many students. Writing centers, now common at all types of universities including the U of T, are organized differently but are not serving a function that's all that new. If you want to defend California Coast University, then do it by talking about its strengths, not by attacking other people. Say something helpful or don't say anything at all.(04-20-2022, 09:59 AM)sanantone Wrote: It used to be illegal to use California Coast University degrees in Texas, and they were probably only other states' diploma mill lists.
