To answer the RA credit versus GE credit question, see "Common Terms": https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Common_Terms

RA refers to regional accreditation
GE refers to general education requirements (which are separate from the major or area of study requirements)

The UL courses are relatively strict, but only because there aren't many options there. Otherwise, yes, super flexible. As long as you hit the correct number of UL credits and you fill in the required slots, you're good.

Do you know of any spreadsheets floating around that list the requirements for either WGU CS or TESU CS?

Someone might have spreadsheets, but I haven't seen any recently. You can compare https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/WGU_IT_Computer_Science_Degree_Plan with https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sample_TESU_General_Education_Requirements_Roadmap and https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Sample_TESU_BA_Computer_Science_Plan

Which state are you in?  That's awesome, you can get some freebie RA credits to use towards TESU's requirements, you just need 15 or so from that institution and get 16 minimum from TESU to waive the residency fee.  I would read this post as a reference as why most of us recommended TESU over WGU: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-Bachelors-in-Computer-Science-Plan

Since you're starting the journey towards a Bachelors, you may want to do a TESU BA CS/Math or a BA CS & BSBA CIS combo.  You can get this done within the allotted 1-1.5 year time frame as you mentioned.  You can then ladder it up to a Masters or go into the workforce in Business, CIS or CS related fields.  I suggest supplementing these with some inexpensive Business/IT industry certifications recommended on the forum.

Essentially, the 15+ credits you get from the state university, you can use towards the general education/electives area for both degrees.  You just then need 16+ credits at TESU to finish off both degrees, I suggest doing two terms at TESU and this will be a first flat rate term (required cornerstone plus 3 easy courses or e-packs) and the second would be for the two capstones.

If you want to see a sample template for a double degree, here's an old one, you can create your own and copy/paste the link from your onedrive or google drive so we can comment on it...  BALS/BSBA Double Degree using 5 TECEPS as of Jan 2021: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19v67VXKpNSeHCqYszJN6HEX0yfaKEi69ZGa5eaFurS4/edit?usp=sharing

The BA CS&Math sounds good to me. I'm in Massachusetts. So just to be clear, the RA credits could be from my major or any other major? And they don't necessarily need to be UL either? I want to take this course this summer.
Looking at the TESU spreadsheet, since I'm in a different major I wouldn't necessarily be using the same course providers.
In the column titled "desired course selection", are the titles those of the course provider or the titles of the TESU course it transfers as?

Can I enroll and be a student TESU in order to transfer in my classes before I start paying tuition for my term?
Do you know where I can find TESU's CLEP transfer policy? I'm not sure if college composition will count for both English I and II, or if the Sociology CLEP fulfills the Diversity Intercultural Literacy requirement, or if the Calculus CLEP with count for *both* quantitative literacy and my AOS calculus requirement.

Yes, you can apply to TESU and you don't have to start taking classes immediately. It is, however, recommended to pay for the Medical Terminology TECEP ($50) to fully enroll and unlock unlimited evaluations of the courses you're transferring in. Otherwise, you only get 2 transcript evaluations.

CLEP exams: https://tesu.smartcatalogiq.com/Current/Undergraduate-Catalog/Methods-of-Learning-and-Earning-Credit/Exam-Programs/CLEP-College-Level-Examination-Program/Listing-of-CLEP-Exams If you can do the CLEP for free with ModernStates, that's great. Otherwise, College Writing from ONU is recommended: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Olivet_Nazarene_University

The Calculus CLEP can fill EITHER Quantitative Literacy OR AOS requirement, but not both. It will automatically go to the AOS requirement. You can do College Algebra at Sophia in just a couple of days to fill the Gen Ed requirement. Or CSM Learn, if you somehow don't need any other Sophia courses.

Thank you so much!
Is the unlimited evaluations specific to the Medical Terminology TECEP or can you get it with any TECEP? You don't need to pass it, do you?
I saw this from TESU's application webpage:
Quote:Submit the $50 non-refundable application fee (if applicable).
Your application and fee are valid for 12 months from the date of your acceptance letter. If you have not enrolled within this period of eligibility, you must reapply to the University if you intend to pursue your degree in the future
Does this mean I can't apply until I'm less than a year from taking classes?

By 2 terms you mean 2 12 week terms, right? The tuition for that would be at least $9278, wouldn't it?
I know you mentioned that most people can't complete a WGU degree in one semester, but this plan involves completing two TESU degrees in one semester. I suppose this would be more doable than WGU due to requiring only 16(?) credits vs WGU's 30. How many credits is a single capstone course?
Can you expand a bit on the reasoning behind adding 9 credits in seemingly unnecessary classes to the first semester?

RE: Looking for help with getting WGU CS credit before starting - rachel83az - 04-02-2022

It can be any TECEP. Medical Terminology just happens to be the cheapest TECEP. You don't have to pass, or even to take, the TECEP in order to become fully enrolled. But you do have to pay for it and not get a refund.

It means you're no longer considered an "Applicant" after 12 months. In order to become an "Enrolled" student (by taking a class or registering for a TECEP), you need to be in "Applicant" status.

$9278 would be the cost of two flat-rate terms (9 or more credits per term).
bjcheung77 suggested one flat-rate term and one per-credit term. Each capstone is 3 credits.
  • First term: Flat-rate of $4639
  • Second term: $519/credit * 6 credits = $3114
  • Total between the two terms: $7753
