Ohio University Credit-by-Examination - twosidneys - 04-28-2008 How tough are these exams? How do we prepare for them? My daughter is interested in upper level English courses. Sidney Ohio University Credit-by-Examination - alix - 04-28-2008 I don't know much about these exams myself. On their website, Ohio University says: Quote:You receive a course syllabus that outlines course requirements, grading policy, and the kind of examination to be taken; obtain the textbook; and prepare for the examination without assistance from an instructor. Sample exam questions for many of the courses are included in the syllabus students get upon enrollment. Since I've never heard them mentioned on these boards, I don't know if anyone has taken them. If someone has, I hope they speak up! Alix Ohio University Credit-by-Examination - twosidneys - 08-20-2008 Has anyone tried these exams or heard from someone who has? I am wondering how difficult it would be to get ready for them. Sidney Ohio University Credit-by-Examination - mlwilliamsiv - 08-20-2008 Hello everyone. I would just like to add that you check with TESC especially to see how credits from Ohio University will transfer in because Ohio University (like many other colleges here in Ohio, if not all) are setup on the "quarter hour system" not the "semester hour" system like TESC (I'm not sure if Excelsior or Charter Oak are setup on the quarter hour system or not). That being said...if you take a 3 credit Ohio University exam, in actuality, you only have 2 semester credits. Just be sure that you won't be doing yourself a disservice taking these exams and losing credits. This is the reason why I didn't take any classes at my local community college...because they're setup on the quarter hour system. Hope this info helps. That shouldn't be too much of a problem on electives, but how would that affect required courses? Say a degree program requires 3 semester hours of English, but you only get 2.66 from Ohio U. Would that require some sort of waiver? Ohio University Credit-by-Examination - bat21 - 08-21-2008 barcotta Wrote:This is potentially very valuable information for certain folks. Thank you very much for taking the time to put this customized list together. Some of these exams could be helpful to someone who wants to get their degree quickly and has existing knowledge in the areas of humanities or, specifically, English. Also, the aeronautics folks may get some utility out of this--although I have to confess that the pilot-by-exam approach makes me a little nervous! Very Interesting , Yes indeed! For this reason I will be using the Ohio U tests to finish the last 20 credits of my BA. I'll post all I can after I walk that mile. That is... after I finish the last 9 courses for my BS in acct at EC. Ohio University Credit-by-Examination - PeteDude - 09-15-2008 Anyone know of other schools with a similar approach to U of Ohio's?? I'm digging into this a little myself, as I figure it would pay to have more options. What's turned up so far are mostly schools that will let you take credit by examination, but without guarantee that the school you transfer to will accept those credits. Ohio University Credit-by-Examination - ali4nia - 09-15-2008 Beside the Big 3(including Charter Oak with their ridiculous number of exam 4 I guess) and ohio U, I dont know any other RA school with credit by examination program, most of the school they have what they call department exam which is for their students. If you know any other please let us know ! Ohio University Credit-by-Examination - keymommy2000 - 07-29-2013 eCampus |
