RE: MAOL Roll Call - ashkir - 04-20-2021 I have no idea how long or how much work they will be yet. But I'll find out soon hope it's not too bad. The capstone is last and not in the middle as others previously believed. I can wait to start this- Hopefully will start this October 2021 after i complete the BSBA. RE: MAOL Roll Call - ashkir - 05-06-2021 4 more days. A bit nervous as I don't know what to expect!!! RE: MAOL Roll Call - rachel83az - 05-06-2021 Reading and then writing papers, I assume. RE: MAOL Roll Call - ashkir - 05-12-2021 The first paper isn't too shabby. 15 pages + 5 page bibliography. The content is really informative so I'm double reading it all. RE: MAOL Roll Call - Vle045 - 05-19-2021 Eeep! 15 pages. So, here's my concern on UMPI... no program accreditation. Does this matter? UMPI is a state public university (not private like most of the ones on this forum) that is regionally accrediated. So their degrees hold up very well. a state university degree is tremendously respected. RE: MAOL Roll Call - Vle045 - 05-20-2021 a lot of schools have the business programs accredited by AABSP or AACSB. I am not sure how important that is...... RE: MAOL Roll Call - Flelm - 05-20-2021 Honestly, it depends. BUT, unless you're going to a very competitive field/company, or going into teaching, it probably doesn't matter. BUT, unless you're going to a very competitive field/company, or going into teaching, it probably doesn't matter. I suspect this is true. I think it’s also the case that most employers won’t even know or care. As an example, most of the Cal State system schools are AACSB, some are not. Channel Islands is ACBSP accredited, Humboldt State is IACBE accredited, Monterey Bay does not have programmatic accreditation (though they say they are pursuing AACSB). Realistically, if an employer gets applications for a job and the candidates have, respectively, BBAs from Channel Islands, Humboldt, Monterey Bay, and Bakersfield (AACSB), will that programmatic accreditation matter? In 99 cases out of 100, the HR person or business owner looking at the applications won’t know or care. They will look at your GPA, work experience, certifications, etc.; that will matter a whole lot more. One thing that hasn’t been mentioned—if you want to pursue an MBA or other graduate degree in business, some AACSB programs make people with non-AACSB bachelor’s degrees do some extra preparatory/leveling coursework. But, it’s not ALL AACSB programs and for the ones that I have looked at, it seems to be a course, maybe 2 or 3 extra. If that’s a deal breaker, just don’t go to that school for your MBA... |
