RE: Walden Tempo MS General Psych - how is it? - xspect - 09-05-2020 I did a masters in tempo I/O psych now I'm in the PhD program. RE: Walden Tempo MS General Psych - how is it? - mudball - 09-07-2020 I'm about 20% of the way through. It's a lot of reading with a few videos mixed in. I enjoy the textbook and you can have it read aloud at an faster pace if you like. Most of the research articles are, well, research articles. There are 2-5 quizzes per credit. they are not hard for the most part and can be redone as many times as you need. I'm not a fan of writing, and there is a LOT of it. I find myself getting burnt out a lot. Especially now that I have a picky professor for my current class. If you are dedicated you can move through pretty quickly though. When you say a lot of writing do you mean papers or paragraph type answers? Thanks for the update! RE: Walden Tempo MS General Psych - how is it? - mudball - 09-19-2020 I have been very inconsistent in my progress, so I can't estimate the time spent per week. 1st 3 credits = two items to respond to - 2-3 paragraphs each plus references; 2 papers, 3 pages each plus references. Next 5 credits = extensive spreadsheet of theories with explanations and references, 5 items to respond to 3-5 paragraphs each plus references, and a 7 page paper plus references. Next 5 credits = 6 items to respond to 3-4 paragraphs each plus references, 10 page paper plus references, and 8-11 page paper plus references on a biography of your choice. Thank you @mudball! This is a lot of really great information to consider. I'm looking to make my decision within the next week or so. Writing out my pros and cons list now. When did you start? Are you doing this degree part time? I'm considering this program and the Amberton MA in Prof Development. I love the way Amberton gives you the ability to see the syllabuses for each class/Professor ahead of time and you can choose which classes you want based on the syllabus. But they are 10 weeks each and it would be like SOS-110 and the capstone - having something due each week which I really don't enjoy but on the other hand I'd prefer that over writing a crap ton of papers. Thank you for all your information and congratulations on all your progress so far!! Are these per credit or per the entire lump of credits? I.e., are the "6 items to respond to 3-4 paragrpahs each..." for all 5 credits combined, or for each credit? RE: Walden Tempo MS General Psych - how is it? - mudball - 09-19-2020 "Next 5 credits = 6 items to respond to 3-4 paragraphs each plus references, 10 page paper plus references, and 8-11 page paper plus references on a biography of your choice." These are all of the things that need to be done for the 5 credit course. Most courses are broken up into three sections. For example, the first credit may require "6 items to respond to with 3-4 paragraphs for each item plus references." Then the next 2 credits would require the "10 page paper plus references." And the final 2 credits for the course may require an "8-11 page paper plus references." Hopefully that explains it better. RE: Walden Tempo MS General Psych - how is it? - Thorne - 09-19-2020 Oh, sweet! For some reason I was thinking Walden was like Capella, with a bunch of 1cr classes. This actually seems like it could be easily doable in a single 3 month term if someone REALLY kicks it into gear. Shame I'm not going into psychology. RE: Walden Tempo MS General Psych - how is it? - suzycupcake - 09-19-2020 Mudball you sealed the deal for me. I just applied and had transcripts sent to Amberton ![]() RE: Walden Tempo MS General Psych - how is it? - warriortaupou - 09-24-2020 (09-05-2020, 09:51 AM)xspect Wrote: I did a masters in tempo I/O psych now I'm in the PhD program. How was the I/O Psych? Did you finish during the 3-month term? I looked at the PhD program briefly and it looked very costly (for me). (09-03-2020, 08:26 PM)Supermind Wrote: How is it going so far? I think I'm going to go for it. I was looking into the difference between the 2 programs: I/O vs Gen. How do you like? Do you think it will take more than 1 or 2 term(s) (3-months per)? I saw an option for 50% off life for both-Tempo, which is why I am considering this...plus I want this for working overseas (on an island lol). I don't recall if there is a statistics requirement, so that will be challenging if there is. I have not done college math in forever. Guess I'll need to freshen (ummm, immersion!) on those skillsets. |
