I've taken an intro to ethics course before at a college and there was no philosophy in it. It was straight up ethics.

It's interesting to hear different people's takes on the courses! I enjoyed this course and found it to be one of the easiest Sophia courses I took. Got one of my highest scores in it. I guess my brain is wired in a different way so it was easier for me to pick up and understand.

I didn't do great in this course but I didn't do too badly either. I definitely didn't think it was easy but I didn't think it was completely impossible, either. I passed and that's what counts.

I'll be happy to pass!

I am busy with it right now after statistics course. Lets say in comparison to the effort you need to put into stats, this course is really doable.

Ethiics you need to understand the concepts. The course isn't too hard because once you understand like 10 things, that is 1/2 the course.

What is ethics, what is philosophy?

Virtue-Based Ethics/Vices
Utilitarianism
Kantian Deontology
Divine Command Theory
Conventionalism
Egoism

Supererogatory (do anyway though its wrong)
Neutral (no action)
Impermissible (don't do)
Obligatory (do)

Funny the Virtue-Based Ethics, I guess this is where people get their virtual signaling from.

It wasn't that the course material was so difficult to grasp, for me the milestone questions and answer choices were so ambiguous that in some cases, you're reduced to splitting hairs on the correct answer. I found the course to be unnecessarily difficult due to poor word choices and many disconnects between tutorial and exam. Everyone learns differently, however, there are many similar comments on their website from frustrated students who took this course. This may be why it is one of the lowest-rated courses on the site, according to students who responded.

I completed 8 Sophia courses and all have been great but Intro the Ethics needs a complete overhaul!

This is so odd, I enjoyed it too and found it easy and finished it in three days. I also took Greek Philosophers first but that was a while ago. The ethics seemed basic, but I also have studied ethics and philosophy for more than three years at high school abroad, so that gave me an unfair advantage. On the other hand, algebra was my worst nightmare but I passed.

I agree 100% I find science, math, and English courses to be pretty easy for me. I think because they are rules-based subjects. I don't do as well with philosophical or Art History type courses where you look at a painting and have to accurately interpret the artist's meaning or mood. My brain just isn't wired that way.

I absolutely agree with you.
