Some boards require the first 10 or so posts of a new user to be approved by a moderator. Kind of hard on the lurkers whose first post is "Help me with my degree plan".

I agree. But I think if they have to wait a few hours/a day for it to post, that it's not unreasonable. I guess it would just depend on how much work this would be for the moderators, and how quickly it would be approved.

I wouldn't mind that. But we're looking at other options that I think will probably work out better, or at least be less restrictive.
