Higher ed journalists are clueless. Journalists are very good at researching and understanding criminal law, but they don't know how the education system works. To be fair, the U.S. education system is unnecessarily complicated. Most other countries don't have this private-public partnership in regulating schools. If the federal government (or even the states) accredited schools instead of umpteen million private accreditors, we wouldn't have half these problems. |
