Quote:Do they not like it because of the perceived low quality and issues with how people accelerate through the competency based model or is t because WGU is disruptor and threatening the current paradigm of higher education? From what I've heard, they think the students are of low quality, and they aren't getting any instruction. WGU is just a check-the-box school just like most of the other schools we talk about here. It shouldn't be presented as anything more than that, but it has by at least one person. It's misleading. WGU is not going to impress anyone; it simply meets degree requirements. RE: BS Computer Science - ajs1976 - 08-20-2017 Sanantone - thanks for the reply. I have more thoughts, but i'm going to stop, so that I don't continue to derail the OPs thread. I took Calc 1 and 2 w distance learning at North Dakota University and mistakenly left them off my list. After seeing the advice, I think I will start with the DSST MIS and Cyber security since that works for all: WGU Software Development, Fort Hayes State University - Computer Science and Thomas Edison State University - BA Computer Science. I have 4 D's from a traditional university, do I have any hope for these to transfer to one (or all) of these schools? TESU will take D's, as long as the courses aren't in your AOS (major) or in English Comp I & II. Which courses did you get D's in? RE: BS Computer Science - txnicole - 08-21-2017 Another thing to wonder about is when you say you're looking for a new job with a higher salary, are you thinking in terms of programming or management? Tech is my industry, and I know quite a few people (myself included) who have struggled to find other tech people who also have good management skills and can translate 'tech speak' between business people and computer people. If moving into management is what you are looking at, you might think about a business degree with an IT concentration. |
