DAVAR Academy (formerly Tor) Information Literacy Review - dfrecore - 06-06-2017 High_Order1 Wrote:Well... There is a course equivalency (ENG-103), so it's been evaluated by TESU - Davar just doesn't know where it's going to fall in the degree plan. Will it come in to meet the Info Lit requirement? Or just as a Gen Ed/Humanities course? That's the question here, not whether or not it will be accepted. I'm guessing the folks at Davar don't really understand the TESU degree plans well enough to say at this point either. I think you're the guinea pig on this one. I'm guessing the folks at Davar don't really understand the TESU degree plans well enough to say at this point either. Well The nice lady at TESU begs to differ. She says it hasn't had a formal review. I tend to trust you, but this person has been really helpful, and so far things have gone as she says. I'll be the guinea pig. :coolgleam: I'm not worried, God always helps me. If they deny it, I will email DAVAR, and leverage them against TESU, then I am thinking I'll appeal it although I don't know the process. Worse come to worst, I'll chalk it up to cart>horse, and take another class. (shrugs) Undaunted, undeterred Minor Edit: I went to Alternative Credit Project after I shot my mouth off here. I couldn't find an ENG-103 listed nor TOR / DAVAR offerings on that page. Dunno if it is most current, but I did go look. cheersmate DAVAR Academy (formerly Tor) Information Literacy Review - jsd - 06-06-2017 High_Order1 Wrote:Minor Edit: I went to Alternative Credit Project after I shot my mouth off here. Even most ACE approved institutions are not part of the ACP. That doesn't make sense. Also, even if it was ACE-approved (it's NCCRS, not ACE), that doesn't really matter. No one is questioning whether or not it's a credit-bearing course, but rather WHERE it will come into TESU's degree plan. I think that's the only question here. DAVAR Academy (formerly Tor) Information Literacy Review - Rf10 - 06-07-2017 I was just told by a TESU advisor that the Davar Information Literacy course will transfer in as Eng 399-Special Topics in English. I did not question her on why it says it will transfer in as Eng 106 on the Davar/TESU equivalency page. I was hoping it would fulfill the Info Literacy requirement, but it doesn't look like it will unless she is misinformed. DAVAR Academy (formerly Tor) Information Literacy Review - jsd - 06-07-2017 I fulfilled TESU's infolit requirement through a course that transferred in as ENG-299 Special Studies in Selected Topics, but the syllabus for the class very clearly lined up with the concept of "information literacy" so it was easy to make the argument. So that alone doesn't mean it won't satisfy the requirement. Any time TESU gets a course that doesn't line up with what they already have in their database, it becomes a X99 - Special Topics in XXX. That's just their go-to coding system. This does not mean that it WON'T transfer in and fulfill the Info Lit requirement though. I think you're just going to have to transfer it in and see what happens. That's the only way to know for sure what's going on with it. DAVAR Academy (formerly Tor) Information Literacy Review - High_Order1 - 06-13-2017 Quick update: The advisor said they were aware of DAVAR's claims on their website, but reiterated TESU has not evaluated this course yet. No news. I have elected to not engage DAVAR in the process at this point, I have a problem with being too aggressive on things, so I am trying to 'just let this play out'. I suspect getting them involved might speed the process up. Or, it might result in DAVAR saying woops and taking their claim down. milelol: DAVAR Academy (formerly Tor) Information Literacy Review - dfrecore - 06-14-2017 High_Order1 Wrote:Quick update: I think I'd contact Davar and just let them know what TESU said, and leave it at that. One thing that will happen though, is that after you send TESU your transcript, they WILL evaluate the course to determine the course number, and there you go! Keep us posted so we know what happens. And good luck.
