Do graduate schools ask for your CLEP/DSST scores? - davewill - 03-27-2017 The problem is there is so much variability. Georgia Tech never asked to see any of my test scores, but that might have been different if I'd applied to the more restrictive on-campus program. On the plus side, the advisers for grad programs are generally much more responsive to queries and phone calls. Do graduate schools ask for your CLEP/DSST scores? - Decius73 - 03-27-2017 The Cal State schools required me to achieve a minimum score on the GMAT. Their minimum GPA is 3.0. West Texas A&M has a 3.0 requirement or GMAT, so I had to take the GMAT. LSUS accepted me without the GMAT. I did well on the GMAT and chose a Cal State school. Do graduate schools ask for your CLEP/DSST scores? - Bibby - 03-27-2017 Mine didn't. I applied to (and was accepted to) four different (on-campus) graduate programs, and none of the schools asked for my CLEP transcript. As long as your CLEP credit is recognized by an accredited institution, this probably shouldn't be a concern. I can't say there are no grad schools that would want to see your CLEP/DSST transcripts, but sending them is no big deal - and as Cookderosa mentioned, you'll have plenty of other options if one school is putting up too many roadblocks. I was even able to take one more CLEP (Financial Accounting) to satisfy a lower-level accounting prerequisite that I needed before I started grad school. Your results on getting grad schools to allow you to do this may vary, though. It's been pretty sweet for me, though, since it's made my schedule much more convenient this year. Someone asked about GPA. GPA is definitely a factor in grad school admissions, as well as scholarship opportunities. It is not the only factor, though. In real life, there may be certain industries that care about your GPA. There are also industries that don't put much weight on GPA - for example, IT employers aren't going to care that I got an A in my Introduction to Philosophy class in 2011. Give your best, but don't stress if you don't get a 100 on every test. Even if most of your credit comes from non-GPA credit, you could always take a few regular classes, and a few good grades should boost your average. Lastly, if you're in eighth grade and you're already thinking about grad school, you're probably awesome. Keep it up. It's about as daunting figuring out the grad school thing as it was when I first started researching online undergrad degrees. The thread could include a list of schools preferable to online degree holders, schools categorized by their different gpa requirements, by general prerequisites, by cost, by accreditation, by online or B&M... I know it takes forever and a half to research this sort of thing, so of course this is more just wishful thinking. With a big batch of undergrads graduating this year, maybe in a year or so we'll have more grad school testimonials. It doesn't take forever- it takes one person to start, because when you do, others will contribute to the body of knowledge. You should be the one to make it happen! All of the good info here was pulled together by people just like you who needed it for themselves, and in turn, shared what they found. I'm working on wading through links I've gathered, and also contacting different grad schools. If I come up with some coherent helps, I'll definitely share here. I'm also researching to help find a suitable mba program for my bro, so I'm looking in a few dif masters directions. If you find it useful for yourself, good bet others will find it useful too. That's been my rule of thumb for a long time. I thought I heard those where reported on transcripts, unlike how CLEP is just P/F? Thanks everyone! With their previous scoring system, some schools did grant letter grades for some things, but I think that has mostly gone away.
