Patten Diploma Arrived but am not excited - Saharapost - 07-05-2016

I live outside the US and for us, any degrees not earned within my country of residence must be submitted for evaluation and recognition before I can use it for academic purpose here. My TESU degree still remains the best one I have so far, but without a GPA, the evaluation guys here were confused and couldn't do an evaluation- they said. So, I went in to Patten to take as many classes as possible just for the grades and GPA. I took almost 60 semester credit hours at Patten - I have a link that explains my journey and reasoning here - Second Degree: My Patten University Experience

I love ENMU and I enjoyed my time there. Professors can be considerate and responded fast to my questions. I missed the deadlines for several assignments when I was on 2 weeks vacation to Africa where I had less access to internet than I have in Europe, but they were willing to allow me resubmit the assignment and take an already conducted test. ENMU is doable - at least the two classes are took were.

dfrecore Wrote:Totally off topic: can I ask why you got a BA in Management from Patten when you already had a BSBA from TESU? Not being critical, just curious since they sound so similar.

Also, can you tell me what you think of ENMU? I was considering going there for my MBA as well, but wanted to get some feedback on it first. Thanks.

Honestly, the padded diploma cover is not my main concern as I can do without it. I have never seen a school award a degree without a transcript.

Exfactor Wrote:My diploma from my state college did not include a padded diploma case. Matter of fact many of my friends who attended the big state universities here in Florida also did not receive a padded diploma case from their school. They just received the diploma in the mail. Each school operates different in regard to including a folder, some include it, some don't.

I already sent out an email to the Registrar's Office, but I knew I wasn't going to get a response yesterday being an holiday in the US. I really do hope they send out the transcript and padded case- but of course the transcript is more important to me even than the diploma. Smile

I thought they handed out those covers at graduation. I don't think they mail them to you if you don't go to graduation unless you request it. I would, however, expect to receive a transcript when the diploma arrived. I'd call them and tell them you need both and see what they say.

I've only graduated from three schools but none of them included a transcript. I half expected WGU to direct me to a secure site so I could just download the diploma lol....they were actually the only one to send the padded case.

I think the biggest disappointment was when I graduated Paramedic school, Instructor just walked in and handed us our certificates. This was pretty much the culmination of 2 years work and he just handed them out as if returning a graded paper or something. I handed mine back and said this was an inappropriate venue, he glared at me. I started humming "pomp and circumstance" until it was taken up by most of the class. Smile

So, COSC doesn't include a transcript in one's graduation pack? From what I have gathered here so far, it seems in the US it is not a big deal when transcripts aren't issued upon graduation. It still feels weird to have completed a degree only to be handed a diploma - it gives me the feeling that I have just completed a career diploma program.

Patten provides free transcripts. Just request an official one to be mailed to you.

I would guess that it's because the transcript is almost useless in your own hands; many places will not accept it from you, if they want a copy, they want it from the school directly?

Also, I think most schools will send you one for free, so they may figure why waste the paper if someone doesn't want it, if they do want it, they will just send you a copy. I'm one of those that would not request a copy, and I may be the norm.

Anyway, congrats, and good luck in your future endeavors!

I agree with wanting a copy of your transcript, even if it is unofficial. There was a mistake on mine after my first graduation. I'm glad I knew about it and was able to get it fixed.

Congrats Saharapost! You been beasting it out that last couple of years.

TESC was the only college that sent me a copy of my transcripts for both my AAS and BA. My community college did not give me a copy of my transcript official or unofficial, but I did get a cover with the college name on it. I recently graduated from Seton Hall University and my diploma was sent with no cover or transcript. It came with an English translation of the diploma, because it's in Latin. At graduation I was given a cover with the University name on it. I had to order and send an official copy of my transcript to my employer which was $5.00USC and a copy of my diploma with the translation. I guess it's the school's preference or budget.
