But getting to the subject at hand, I personally did Saint Leo University for two semesters and loved the school. They are a small Jesuit school with a B&M in Florida. They have satellite campuses on military bases around the country. Also, Embry Riddle is great and has a good rep. Other good military friendly schools on my list, TESC, COSC, Excelsior, Troy University, University of Oklahoma, NVCC, Tidewater CC, ODU and CMU.
Thanks Proloko. I knew about that book, and the military.com site too. I just wanted to hear from you guys because we look at education through a different lens over here. I've actually compiled my own list, I'm still finishing the profiles now.
The approach I took was to be sure the college was in the DODMOD database (2700ish) then narrowed it down to only schools that were regionally accredited, then narrowed it down to schools that had AU-ABC programs in place, then narrowed it down to only schools that accepted CLEP and DSST in some amount, then of THAT group (70ish) I went through and selected only schools that had per credit tuition of $250 or less. My list will be included in my new book, but the list had to work for 100% of enlisted in any branch, lead to a full associate or bachelor degree, and be able to complete using only Tuition Assistance. (which would save the GI Bill for later or to share)
That list is small, about 25. But I really appreciate the feedback, I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything!

Angelo State University has AU-ABC programs, accepts CLEP and DSST, has a close relationship with the Air Force, and gives all active duty military a TA scholarship to cover the difference between tuition and TA.

I will call BS on this list of "Over 1,600 schools earned this yearâs distinct Military Friendly® Schools designation." Many will take the Gov't money but are NOT Military friendly.

Can you name a few that you experienced that are BS?

I eliminated Angelo State because the tuition is considerably higher than $250 (in the 600's if I remember)- with a fee on top of the regular tuition for distance learning. Requiring a scholarship above TA is a disqualifier for my list.
Why? Because a scholarship would be required for the duration, not just once. If a college decided to pull the plug on these scholarships, or didn't renew for some reason, the soldier would have to dip into GI Bill money- which is also disqualifier.
Too many variables, I wanted only solid options that would work for everyone in any situation.

Military qualifies for in-state tuition. With tuition and fees for 15 credit hours, tuition is about $260 per credit hour.

I just learned from the other forum that California Southern University is now regionally accredited. Their regular undergraduate tuition rate is $250 per credit hour, but military pay $225 per credit hour.
