Did you find Straighterline Business Stats much easier??

@GMT

I thought Straighterline was the easier route for sure. I responded to your PM regarding it. In addition to being easier (For me anyways) the only downfall I saw was the price, but since I used a buy one get one coupon at the time it was kind of free dependent upon your viewpoint. Personally if you have to take anymore courses that could be accomplished through straighterline ask a student adviser via live chat for a coupon or a partner school discount (usually 50 dollars) and try it this way. The reason most people do Aleks is the cost; which, is great. As to how you choose to learn is always your choice.

I don't know why I assumed Straighterline's Statistics course would be more difficult. I guess that's why this forum is here, to ask others about their experience.

It's been a while but I remember ALEKS Statistics and I still get a bad taste in my mouth. I ended up printing out each explanation and I had about 2 inches of papers. I also think I tried twice before I got it done and spent about 100 hours. I don't know if I really learned anything or just short term memorized enough to pass. Statistics is one of the reasons I will never teach beyond 8th grade math.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that very bitterly struggled through it.

If you're attending a partner school they give you a discount?

Yes. A $50 discount. Ask the student adviser. Mine was tesc$50

I too took Calc up through Calc IV and Linear Algebra. Math is one of my favorite subjects. Aleks Stats to me was no joke. When I initially signed up I decided to take the College Algebra assessment just to see how learning with Aleks worked and I scored in the mid 90's, so I thought Aleks would be a breeze. It took me over 40 hours to get through Intro to Stats through Aleks and I hated every minute of it. I went through a ream of paper printing out all of the examples and their multiple iterations. In the end I hit 69.6 and they conveniently rounded it up to 70 to satisfy the ACE requirement.

Its comical because I chose to use Aleks for stats to bypass the headache of taking an actual class. If I had it to do all over again I would choose taking the class over Aleks in a heartbeat.

Working my way through intro to stats now and it is a headache. Even basic problems seem unnecessarily long ...averaging sets of 40-60 numbers is nuts. Can't we prove I know this with a smaller set of numbers???
