Degree options for AA? - KayV - 07-27-2014 That is an Associate in Arts in General Studies from TESC. It fulfills the General Ed requirements for TESC Bachelor of Arts degrees too. Degree options for AA? - bricabrac - 07-27-2014 KayV Wrote:Cathgrl, nice job on the degree plan for TESC! The only thing that might be problematic is the General Ed elective section. Child development (3 EDUC), first aid (2 PE), weight training (1 PE), and Principles of Management (3 BUS) are free electives, not general ed, so she would need to replace those with other general ed credits. I agree with KayV, below are some options for both GenEd and TECEP exams. You only need 4 TECEPs to take advantage of Pay Per Credit Tuition @ TESC. The rest of the credits can be taken by DSST/CLEP/SL etc, whatever method is best for your. Confirm the TECEP Environmental Ethics, a new exam, would fulfill the ethical leadership requirement. If not, Ethics in America DSST, Business Ethics SL, Business Ethics and Society DSST have been used for that slot. General Ed recommendations - I found all of these exams easily doable but listed by order of what I thought was the easiest. LIT-291/292 Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP COS-101 Intro to Computing DSST ENG-201 Technical Writing DSST PSY-211 Lifespan Psychology DSST COU-262 Intro to Counseling DSST (transfers as PSY331) AOJ-101 Introduction to Law Enforcement or AOJ-102 Criminal Justice DSSt (can only use 1) SOS-101/102 Social Science & History CLEP TECEP Recommendations: CIS-107 Computer Concepts and Applications POS-101 Introduction to Political Science PSY-270 Psychology of Women (I took this exam and have study notes if needed) ENG-201 Technical Writing SOC-210 Marriage and the Family (there's not much study material on this exam, if you decide to take it let me know, I took the course and can send you my midterm and final study notes. My notes, along with the test description, may help you create a very good study guide) Degree options for AA? - quickdegree - 07-27-2014 Thank you! Could you explain the comment highlighted in red. Does this mean TESC requires 4 classes or TECEPs be taken in order to accept DSST/CLEP/SL? How do you prepare for TECEP tests? Thanks again, getting closer to feeling like we have a solid plan to take action on. bricabrac Wrote:I agree with KayV, below are some options for both GenEd and TECEP exams. Degree options for AA? - Drakemoore - 07-27-2014 In order to graduate from TESC you have to fulfill a residency requirement if you're military or if you're using the per credit tuition plan. I don't think you need it if you're using the enrolled options or comprehensive plan. If you don't take enough credits in some form from TESC the only way to graduate semi cheaply if you're transferring everything in is with the enrolled options plan if I understand correctly. Which for out of state students is pretty expensive just to graduate. Degree options for AA? - bricabrac - 07-28-2014 quickdegree Wrote:Thank you! You would study for a TECEP the same way as you study for any other exam. On the TECEP exam page there are test descriptions which give you a breakdown on what's covered on the exam. Note: TECEPs are geared towards the recommended text which you can usually get fairly cheap by purchasing a later edition (go back 1 or 2 editions from current). I know IC has cards for Public Relations & Thought Practice, Operations Management and Strategic Management. Also Saylor has prep material that covers a few others. Either search the forum or visit saylor.org for that information. Below are links to my posts explaining the plan, comparing pricing as well as a BSBA degree plan utilizing TECEPs. You would just follow the same example by using your AA Plan and inlcuding 4 TECEPs to meet the 12CR associates degree residency requirement. Good luck! We applied last night and are going to submit official transcripts today. During the wait period for them to review it she can get started on some of the course tests you've shown in this thread that we know she will need. Any suggestions where to start? Something easier for her first DSST/CLEP/SL test to kind of intro her to the whole process? Degree options for AA? - quickdegree - 08-18-2014 We received her college credit evaluation last night! We are as confused as before, but it appears they have applied many credits that fulfill requirements. Anyone with a good eye here able to determine exactly which classes required and the equivelent DSST/CLEP, etc that would fulfill those? I greatly appreciate the time and help. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your current academic program evaluation can be found at College Degrees for Adults at Thomas Edison State College. Good news, whatever system your credtis were under obviously worked to your benefit. This is what you need: Sections A - You need 1.68CR credits Take the free TEEX course (CIS299) 2CR Section C - Need ethical leadership DSST Ethics in America or SL Business Ethics Note: I recommend DSST exam. Not sure if the TECEP would work here. You could easily ask advising, but it's a new test and you would be starting from scratch. The DSST exam has flashcards. SL is supereasy by using the eBook and skimming the text and using search. Section D - General Education - You need 12.03 CR Take 4 TECEPs for residency. Choose from: CIS107 PSY270 SOC210 COM210 ENG201 POS101 Note: 0.03CR filled from overage 0.32 in Section A (TEEX Course). DONE!
