Well, she has had some interesting ideas. Whether or not singing is a career, it is a talent that can be an important part of her life for a long time. In addition to the "permission" in the Barbara Sher books, maybe she needs a book like "Fearless Living" by Rhonda Britten.

It's wonderful that you want to help your sister, Unfortunately, without a passion to guide her, she will need to access a different way to help her make decisions. You're fortunate that folks here can offer such good suggestions. I wish you - and your sister - the best of luck. Since we have to work, and it may be in a field that we don't feel passionate about, money may need to be her motivator.

There are a few different things that helped me decide when I was on the fence about what direction to go. Personality test based on C. Jung and I. Briggs Myers type theory I think we've all had to take these at some point but the MBTI can help her determine her personalty type.

Has she ever tried to identify her RIASEC traits (Holland Interest Environments)? Those can be helpful for job seeking. Holland's Six Personality Types | Career Key

Competing Career Clusters might also be helpful for her. These three things can at least give her an idea of what fields she may be interested in. 16 Career Clusters®

Some people are motivated by fear of failure, so they analyze-heed advice-research-use caution, all in effort to not fail. I'm in that category for sure lol. Many people are. Others, maybe your sister, are motivated by other things, and failure doesn't really feel scary- so motivating by fear doesn't work. Sometimes people also just react to the opposite of whatever is suggested to them, just so they can feel control over their own lives. In other words, she may be avoiding certain paths BECAUSE you are suggesting them. Just a thought.

I'm not saying let her fail, I'm saying let her figure it out. If she asks, you'll get to share, otherwise I think you might be overstepping. Just my .02

In my experience, singers often get bored & start reaching for other forms if recognition like acting. That often turns into producing &/or talent management (which reallybdies require psychology). Maybe she ought to consider a more specialized degree in entertainment arts

Maybe something like this: Master of Music in Music Business and Entertainment Industries | Music Business | Frost | Frost School of Music

As much as well all love to give advice, sometimes the best solution is to love them and let them make their own decisions. I don't have younger siblings, but I have a son who doesn't get excited about much. It drives me nuts, but that is probably more about my personality than his.

She did once want to become a sports manager because she loves the San Antonio Spurs.

Thank you all for the tips. I'm just annoyed that she's planning her wedding and neither she nor her fiance have any direction. They both work low-end jobs and are taking on a lot of debt with their new vehicles. It could be worse. She could be having babies out of wedlock and receiving welfare like some of my cousins.

Ding Ding Ding Ding...we have a winner!!!

I've been a victim of the mentality of trying to educate myself out of circumstances, it is a reliable path for many...but only if your determined to do all the other things that will make you a success. Like working hard, displaying some passion, and networking. As second bachelors (except in rare cases like engineering) is unlikely to do anything for her. In fact I would argue that it may be detrimental in that employers will wonder why she migrates from interest to interest and can't select a course. I'm not at all convinced any education will improve her circumstance...but for sure not a sideways move that holds no clearer path to success than the degree she already has. A Masters at some point....maybe....maybe....a cheap MBA might be the best course for someone who "tolerates" HR, at least it wouldn't dig too deep a hole.

Taking on debt without a clear plan only marries her to a job she doesn't love so she can service more debt...no way to live.
