What is the minimum age that you can get a state ID card? If your exam center isn't switched over to the new system, you should try providing a debit/credit card for her to process her payment to the college. This has sufficed for me on a previous occasion. The rules are becoming tighter of course but I've been allowed to use a credit card as my second form in the past.

Thank you for stepping up!!! I really do hope others show their support for an alternate registration option for kids under 13. I'm sure College Board just simply didn't imagine this would be a problem for many people.

You shouldn't have to register for a test through the College Board's website! Just call your testing center and schedule it with them. Then you won't have any problems with internet laws.

OP, my suggestion for your daughter's second ID would be a school photo ID. She should have one if she attends a public school. If she is homeschooled I have heard that it is fairly easy to create one (I have homeschooling families come in to my test center regularly). Another option would be to print off the CLEP Student ID form (http://media.collegeboard.com/digitalServices/pdf/clep/Image_2_Student_ID_Form.pdf). Make sure to follow the directions and she should be able to use this form for a year.

I concur with other posters; you do not need to register with the college board. It all depends on how the testing center runs. In NYC where I am based, I found a place where there was no preregistration required. I literally walked in on a random day and decided to test. I even passed one CLEP, went and ate lunch in the area, then decided return and take a crack at another one in the afternoon. I'd say for anyone in the future, get a list of testing centers from the website but call them all yourself and see how they do things.

Melberry, that is all well and good, but ALL test centers will have to make the migration to the new testing platform before April 2014 or they will not be able to deliver the CLEP exams. This problem will still exist and there will be no option for those under 13 to test once the old platform is no longer available.

While your local test center may still be waiting to institute the change, it WILL be in place for all testing centers by the deadline. Better that we find a solution for this now, before it becomes an issue for others.

An update to this situation: CLEP just announced that effective January 2014 (no specific date) all candidates must register and pay for their exams via My Account. This applies to all test centers, whether they deliver CBT or IBT versions of the CLEP exams!
