Be skeptical of needing only 16 hours in residence at Central Texas College. It takes 18 hours in residence to get an associate's degree in Texas, 30 hours for a bachelor's degree.

Do you have the administrative code for that? I applied for their biology program and my evaluation says I only need 17 credits in residence because that's a quarter of the degree program.
Another thing I just saw today is that Central Texas College is listed by NCCRS as a school that will consider its credits.

You do have to meet all the COSC gen ed requirements. It's just that some exams (or classes) will fulfill more than one requirement. For example i took a course at CSU Pueblo that was both a 300 level concentration course....and it also satisfied the LL Ethics requirement...it was called "nursing Ethics". Your still gonna need the credits, 45 Liberal Arts for an AA, 30 Liberal Arts for an AS.

Rebel100, I would actually be glad if the req.s were spelled out this way. What I found in the catalog page 64 was:
"Associate in Arts and Associate in Science
[SIZE=2]1. General Education ................................ minimum of 20 cr
2. Electives added to General Education to bring total
credits to 60."

Is it spelled out more specifically somewhere else?[SIZE=2]

Associate Degree Overview
You may earn an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree. Both degrees are in General Studies and require 60 semester credits including the completion of general education requirements. The Associate in Arts degree requires 45 liberal arts credits, while the Associate in Science degree requires 30. No, and I'm not going to look for it. The 18 hours in residence is the verbiage I've seen everywhere else. If you can do less than that, good for you. Navigating college rules and policies is sometimes like walking through a minefield.

Well. I knew you had to be right Rebel100. I must have seen this weblink: Charter Oak State College - Completing Your Degree a dozen times but the lack of detail in the catalog surprised me. I have found the weblinks to be more correct than the catlog over at the TESC site too. Thanks again for your help.

That weblink to occupations might turn out mighty useful as my friend's girlfriend is completely undecided on what to do for a career, while her finance' has worked himself through an AA and a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)certification and is now on his way to a BSAST at TESC in RRT.
By the way most state CC's have what's called an articulation agreement with their senior institutions whereby their "AA/AS qualified for transfer" will give you automatic acceptance (no guarantee for what school), acceptance for transfer credit of at least the number of credits in your AA as long as they are C min., junior level standing, and most importantly, waiver of all senior institution course specific general education, Gen-Ed, requirements. Sometines this articulation criterea, except for automatic acceptance, is accepted by neighboring states, e.g. Arizona for California.
