Got my transcripts evaluated what is next? - cooperalex2004 - 10-15-2012 acesup_11 Wrote:thank you very much. Do you think I should just join instacert and not bother with the clep book? They have different purposes as was said by LaterBloomer, I'd study up with InstantCert and then try the practice tests in the book. The combination of the two should work out well. If you do IC, and you use the Internet to check concepts, ideas, etc., that I got my books the Clep official study guide and the college level examination program from kaplan... I am still at a loss. How do I know what to study, where to find what to study and what to study for. Can someone help me out or perhaps do a live chat of some kind. Thank you all again Got my transcripts evaluated what is next? - OtherSyde - 12-14-2012 acesup_11 Wrote:thank you very much. Do you think I should just join instacert and not bother with the clep book? I bought the CLEP book. I tried in vain to study its dry, boring, non-interactive pages of information. Then I joined InstantCert. I've passed 20 tests so far, and i gave the CLEP guide away the other day without ever really using it at all. Interactive technology is sooo much better than old-media, as far as studying goes. By the time you run through an InstantCert practice exam two or three times, taking the CLEP test just feels like another practice exam: Easy and non-threatening. IC is really worth it. Don't stress. Have you taken an exam yet? They are not hard. Trust me. You only need to study TWO THINGS: 1. Run through the InstantCert exams. They pretty much cover almost everything in a neat little package. 2. Right here on this very forum, for anyone who is subscibed to InstantCert, in the main forum area there will be a forum called Specific Exam Feedback, and there is a discussion thread for almost every single exam. Basically, it's people's brain-dumps of the important test stuff. Browse through the thread concerning the exam you want to take and study the things they mention as being important. Do these two things and I don't see how you could fail. You only have to get a 50. I mean hell, I walked in and took a lot of them cold with no studying whatsoever, and passed them with a fair margin. Cram with InstantCert and the study material from the appropriate thread here on the forums for a week or so, then drink an Amp or a Monster right before you take the exam (my personal ritual also inclues a Fish Filet from McDonald's and a 250mg DMAE tablet (from GNC) about an hour before), and you'll smack it outta the park every time. Trust me, once you pass a couple, you'll see that you can eat these things for breakfast. Got my transcripts evaluated what is next? - acesup_11 - 12-14-2012 OtherSyde Wrote:Okay. Don't stress. I am confused what cleps I need to take I guess to satisfy my requirements Got my transcripts evaluated what is next? - OtherSyde - 12-14-2012 Once you subscribe and log in, there's a list of almost every CLEP, DSST and ECE test. Just click on the one you want to study for and start answering questions; each exam is broken down into a number of smaller sections of questions so you don't have to try and answer 300 of 500 questions in a row. Run through each section once really fast and just study it, not trying to answer (cause you won't know the answers the first time anyway), and then go back through it once or twice until you can get 80% or more correct. When you can do all the sections of a test like that, you're pretty much set. It could take a week or two, some people do it in two days. I can usually handle 2 or 3 section per day before I get burned out, so usually 3-4 days of studying for me, about an hour or two per day. Not too hard at all. I think a post earlier in this thread outline which tests you need to take. on the first page I think. Got my transcripts evaluated what is next? - Yanji - 12-14-2012 I would review basic psych inside-out before touching InstantCert (alternately, you could review the IC flashcards for the Intro to Psych CLEP, even if you won't take it); stuff like self-actualisation, psychoanalysis, Hawthorne effect, types of power, etc. will all come up on many different tests and a solid grounding in psych combined with a healthy dose of common sense should allow you to pass the Principles of Mgmt CLEP as well as the Counselling, OB, Principles of Supervision, Intro to Business and HR Mgmt DSSTs with little to no study. The best use of IC imo is to get a feel for what kind of questions will be on the exam and brush up on a few little details. |
