If you get an A.A. or A.S. from a public school in Texas and transfer to a public university in Texas, state law requires that all of your Texas Academic Core courses transfer from the community college or junior college to the university. For example, if a DSST test is used to fullfill the core requirements at a community college, a university must accept these credits even if they don't accept DSST credits. For core courses, stated credit by exam (i.e., CLEP) policy is overridden by the law governing transferrability of core credits. Finding an administrator who actually understands this can be a problem.
