*facepalm* Excelsior says I need two more classes - NAP - 12-09-2010 Well, you did make some progress. rickyjo Wrote:.....The mistake made prior to the review was telling me that I could split up my AP Lit test into both humanities and written English. Apparently this is against their policy....... That is strange about the AP exam, since I checked on how this works with my advisor. Not splitting credits does sound familiar, though: http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-thomas-edison-charter-oak-specific/10581-excelsior-has-updated-student_guide_and_assessment_catalog.html?highlight=split#post77789 I'll check on this again and try to at least find out what happens to your other 3 AP credits. rickyjo Wrote:I wonder if NOW I can take the English I or II class at straighterline and get it applied to my degree as a humanity?....... If not this, maybe the DANTES Technical Writing would be an option. And don't give up; they did confirm that you are really close to your first college degree! *facepalm* Excelsior says I need two more classes - rickyjo - 12-09-2010 indeed. I'm not completely upset, i mean, it could have been much worse. I knew it was a risky game i was playing. At least I have all the rules in front of me now. *facepalm* Excelsior says I need two more classes - Maniac Craniac - 12-09-2010 Funny. They had no problem splitting my AP into 3 English and 3 Humanities credits. Maybe it's because I took both exams? Or maybe it's because I was getting 24 foreign language credits and was waaaay more than set with Humanities? It seems like they are just giving you the beurocratic run around. To be fair to them, however, most colleges probably wouldn't even give you half of the credit they are accepting *facepalm* Excelsior says I need two more classes - rickyjo - 12-09-2010 it's true, this was an excelsior specific degree plan. I asked for further confirmation and just got an email reconfirming this assessment. *facepalm* Excelsior says I need two more classes - marianne202 - 12-09-2010 Honestly, I find EC much more helpful when you are enrolled. Since you are so close you may want to enroll and get locked into the catalog you are using, so the requirements don't change again. You will also get that offical eval where things tend to change from the unofficial eval. I have had that happen several times at EC! But at least then they are required to make it right and explain it until you understand it. Good luck! Keep after them! *facepalm* Excelsior says I need two more classes - rickyjo - 12-13-2010 I just enrolled in the hopes that this will work itself out after the official evaluation. If not I'm just going to take an easy Penn Foster course, I know it's not the most cost effective option but I have my heart set on completing this before or soon after I start my new job at the end of January and I'm confident I can nail a PF course in record time as I am currently not working. I hope I'm done by February! *facepalm* Excelsior says I need two more classes - rickyjo - 12-13-2010 What's a known ACE reviewed Penn Foster Humanities or Social Science 3 credit class that someone here found quick and enjoyable, ideally interesting and useful? Preferably without proctoring as I'm on something of a tight schedule (need to have the course issued, done, and transfered to EC by end of January if at all possible so I can focus on my new job). I'm frustrated by the ACE database because the credit recommendations never simply say "humanities" or "social science" they say that a consumer behavior course is a consumer behavior catagory so I'm never 100% sure if it counts or not towards what I need. Thanks! *facepalm* Excelsior says I need two more classes - bricabrac - 12-13-2010 Rickyjo, Consumer behavior is a marketing course so it would not work. Penn Foster options: Essentials of Psychology (social science) Business & Tech Writing ENG 121 (humanities) - At TESC this is humanities course. You would have to check with EC to see if they would classify it the same. An even faster fix would be to take either the DSST ENG201 Tech Writing or CLEP PSY101 Intro to Psychology. Good luck! *facepalm* Excelsior says I need two more classes - rickyjo - 12-13-2010 psychology works, thanks! I'm actually attempting to sign up for it right now. I'm also trying to figure out the procedure for transferring FEMA through Clackamas community college. Anybody have any information on that? I'm hoping to have it to excelsior and processed by February if at all possible because I'm starting a new job and don't want any distractions. *facepalm* Excelsior says I need two more classes - creative - 12-13-2010 rickyjo- sorry to be off topic here but I am wondering if EC considers your Aleks Beginning Alg as a 100 level math course??? Also, for social science credit-- a lot of people on here say the Intro to Sociology Clep is pretty easy... Not sure if it is easier than Intro to Psych but a lot of people recommend the Sociology exam a lot. |
