Thanks! So do I Smile

KyleH are you a TESC student? If so I just noted you have already clep'd college mathematics. So do not bother with beginning algebra (MAT-102) as I believe it will duplicate college mathematics MAT 102/103.

Also, once your math requirement is met the additional math courses will next fill the natural science section and then roll to general ed. It's actually been a blessing to earn such a strong group of credits at $20/month.

Yes, I will probably be going to TESC. I did not know that. Seems strange that beginning algebra could count as College Mathematics. Thank a ton for the heads up!

I most heartily agree. Aleks is a really easy way of getting those math credits done. Do you recommend I take business statistics, even if my degree is not likely to need it?

Hmmmm you think like I do...scary....I thought it best to get all three stats courses while the getting was good.Big Grin I was lucky in that I was enrolled in dual programs: AAS business and BA social science so both the intro to stats STA-201 (LL) and business stats OPM-351 (UL) were applied (to both degree programs). Others have had only one stats course apply. Early on a few students got all three on the audits. Unfortunately, those days are long gone...<sigh>....Moving forward...

Even if you are allowed only one stats class, my feeling is that as long as the other is sitting on that ace transcript it works for me. You never know what you may need later. Certain programs require a specialty stats course of which both beh science or business stats would fit the description. Sorry for the long winded reply!

Hello.....

For my BS degree at TESC.....I need 6 credits of "College Algebra or Above".

I was already given credit for MAT 121 @ TESC what would be the best CLEP to satisfy my 3 remaining credits? I'm guessing Precalc?

Thanks.

Yes, for the BS degree I believe you have a choice of Precalc (clep, aleks, course) or the QBA course.

Yeah, do Pre-Calc. And if you need any help, PM me because I just took it.

Thanks for the quick reply guys! As you can see...I'm new to this. I've never heard of aleks before, but looked it up. Is it possible to go through their precalc course in lieu of the precalc clep? The last math class I had was almost 10 years ago, so I plan on starting with the basics again. It sounds like aleks is the best way to accomplish this. Thoughts? Thanks again for the suggestions.

Yes you can! And using Aleks is way better than using CLEP, especially if you're not a big fan of math. Also cheaper. So go for that.

Okay....great!!! I see that you took statistics through aleks too. That's another class I need for TESC.

Today I took and passed Intermediate Algebra AND College Algebra w/ Trig. I scored 84% on the assessment for Intermediate and 60% for College, then spent the rest of the day getting to 70%. Thanks everyone for the help.
