Maniac Craniac Wrote:What is the major difference with EC being a partner college? Weren't they accepting Straighterline anyway? Does it make the credit transfer faster? Do they now accept more courses than they did before (that is, are there non-ACE Straighterline courses that EC now accepts)? Have I asked too many questions already? When will it end? Big Grin

Prior to being ace reviewed to get credit for Straighterline course work at Excelsior, you had to use one of the partner colleges , such as FHSU. You had to have a partner college transcript sent to Excelsior. That way EXcelsior would accept the Straighterline courses, as they were being transferred in from an RA college.

Once they became ACE reviewed, if you wanted a grade you still used a partner transcript route as mentioned above. If you wanted pass/fail you would use ACE transcript.

Now if I am reading the Straighterline website correctly, you can have Straigherline send a transcript to Excelsior and they will accept that. You do not have to pay to have one sent from ACE.

They do accept more courses now then they did before they were ACE reviewed, as FHSU did not accept all the Straighterline courses.

Hmmm... This could work to my advantage. So far every credit that I have is pass/fail, every single one. If I can get an A in SL Eng Comp I and transfer it directly I'll have a 4.0 :coolgleam: but from what I've read that will be easier said than done due to their disjointed paper grading process.

if anyone was wondering (i was)...

i called up excelsior and spoke with bill who confirmed that because excelsior now takes transcripts directly from SL, the % grades transfer as well.

if by chance you don't want the grades to accompany the credit transfer, i suppose you could go through ACE and have the credits transferred as pass/fail only.

btw, minimum C (70%) is required for credit transfer.

are the credits awarded by Excelsior and then transferred to another school?

Credit is awarded by Straighterline as now they are ACE approved. Before you would have to transfer the credits to one of the "partner" colleges they had which included FHSU. Now for people that are already getting their degree from Excelsior it is a straight transfer to them.

Sorry my bad what I really wanted to ask was if I can have SL send the grade to Excelsior and have Excelsior transcript the class for me so I can then transfer the class to a different school (just like with FHSU)

Ah, I wouldn't see any reason they wouldn't as that was the original reason for "partner schools." Just shop around and find the one with the cheapest enrollment and transcript cost. For me that was FHSU but I am not sure of the cost of Excelsior.

FHSU transcripts the classes however the new partners are just transfer parteners so those partner agreements have very little use unless you want to go to that school. However Excelsior is a different kind of school and I wonder if they will transcript the class.
