RE: UMPI - DanielDaCosta87 - 01-19-2021 hello. has anyone used the WES website to send credits from a foreign country to a university in the US? RE: UMPI - ashkir - 01-19-2021 I finished MAT140 in a single day. It took me 4.79 hours to complete it. I really love the way you have to describe math problems and how to solve it through creative thinking. I actually learned more on it. RE: UMPI - ashkir - 01-20-2021 I finished the content for my second class, Business Computers/IT Foundations. It covered how networking and the internet works. The essay is dauntingly long, 15 pages of trying to explain to a CEO how to set up a network in common terms with academic sources (which should be fun, since the best IT information is google random sites) lol But the scenario is pretty cool, and written in a way with a lot of suggestions like what topics to cover, what to expand on etc. RE: UMPI - ashkir - 01-20-2021 I'm done with MAT 140 Business Mathematics (Which was basically Algebra with Geomentry, no idea why they didn't accept my PreCalc LOL) got an A. I'm also done with BUS 200 Business Computers, this basically feels like an Intro to IT Part 2, it focuses more on the internet side of things and how networks work. Actually pretty cool and very informative. But I work as an automation engineer in real life... So I was able to breeze through it. Submitted my essay draft, and if it goes well I will be done with it once I submit the final. It's a 15 page essay on IT! But, it's written more like a proposal. The tricky thing is they want you to have academic sources for IT stuff, when everyone that actually works in IT knows you google for stackoverflow questions LOL so finding the academic sources was a freaken PITA. I emailed my academic advisor, Jessica, who is a complete badass by the way, if you join UMPI tell Jessica she's awesome! Jessica added: BUS 240 Change Management BUS 260 Leadership Both of these are newer topics for me. But I did work as a Project Quality Assurance Coordinator for a few years, so I don't know yet. Change Management has a 5-page essay that needs academic library sources then an additional reflection (no length given). For Leadership, the paper is rather straight forward and sounds really relaxing to write. RE: UMPI - magflo - 01-21-2021 Can you send classes to UMPI even after you've enrolled? And do you know if they give credit for CLM math? RE: UMPI - bjcheung77 - 01-21-2021 (01-21-2021, 12:06 PM)magflo Wrote: Can you send classes to UMPI even after you've enrolled? I don't think their program has the same restriction as WGU where they will stop evaluating transferable courses after you have started or enrolled in their classes. Just like Brandman, I think they allow unlimited transfers, it's just that, the degree in question will only allow 75% of the program courses transferred in. What's this CLM math you're referring to? RE: UMPI - rachel83az - 01-21-2021 I think ss20s said somewhere that you need to get permission to transfer in further classes. It's not an outright no but it's also not like TESU/EC/COSC where you can just keep transferring classes until you reach the right number of credits. RE: UMPI - Cofffeee - 01-21-2021 As i remember she said they didnt allow her to transfer more ACE credits after she started classes. But i would rather her to explain more RE: UMPI - ss20ts - 01-21-2021 (01-21-2021, 12:06 PM)magflo Wrote: Can you send classes to UMPI even after you've enrolled? And do you know if they give credit for CLM math? Once you've enrolled, you need permission from your academic advisor to take classes outside of UMPI and transfer them in. I thought about doing it, but everything needed for the degree is offered at UMPI and I know the learning platform. Many of their courses require much less work than taking the course elsewhere such as SDC. No idea if they give credit for CLM's math. It may depend on your degree as well. They have a relationship with Straigherline and their classes have a list on the website how they transfer to UMPI. Most Sophia courses come in as gen eds. They also accept courses from Study. Again they may not transfer into the GEC (gen eds) or major/minor and come in only as general electives.
