So the pass rate is a lot higher than CLEP/DSST. Not saying that it's not doable, but 70% isn't a walk in the park for some of these exams. I stand corrected. The ones I had researched were all 60%. The one I took, Operations management was 100% multiple choice. My apologies. For posterity, how many have you already taken, and did you fail any? 10 years removed from school, 108 credits want to finish my business/finance degree - infoe36069 - 10-08-2015 dfrecore Wrote:The bad thing about registering for TECEP's is that you have a window in which to register for the next term (currently, you have from now until 10/10 to register for the November term, which starts 11/2). I'm not sure why they do this (this is not just for TECEP's, it's for all courses - I just took a cc course that lets you register up through the date the class starts, why can't TESC do that??). So you kind of have to plan ahead for your TECEP's. I just want to thank you again for this post, this was really helpful. I just registered for my first tecep psy-270 psychology of women, today and I was cutting it close 2 more days until november. I actually am glad that it starts in november because I can start studying some for it now and also life has been hectic so I can plan accordingly knowing that I have a month and a half or so to complete the exam. I'm more than appreciative more than anything because I wanted to make sure I registered for a course within my 6 month time frame I would have died if I had to go through the process of registering and sending in documentation and trying to have documents for demonstration of completion again (argh) my question is now that im registered for one tecep in november 2015...if I pass/fail do I have a year to register for another course/tecep? (It wont take me that long but I like having wiggle room) 10 years removed from school, 108 credits want to finish my business/finance degree - dfrecore - 10-08-2015 I think you have 6 months unless you are military, then you get a year. But I could be wrong on that, so hopefully someone else pipes in. Just pick another TECEP that's supposed to be easy to pass (I've heard Technical Writing is easy), and take that in 6 months! 10 years removed from school, 108 credits want to finish my business/finance degree - dfrecore - 10-08-2015 Prioko, I have not taken any TECEP's yet, I'm scheduled for 4 of them during Sep & Oct terms. Hoping to pass all of them... 10 years removed from school, 108 credits want to finish my business/finance degree - infoe36069 - 10-08-2015 how long do you have to take a tecep when you are registered for an exam? so for the november tecep i just signed up for...by when does it need to be attempted? Also will they send out instructions on communicating with proctoru to get the exam setup and taken? 10 years removed from school, 108 credits want to finish my business/finance degree - Prloko - 10-08-2015 They should have explained it to you. It's treated like a "class" for registration and timelines. So the exam must be taken before the end of the November term (some time in January), check the school calendar or contact an advisor. Each term is about 12 weeks, and a new one starts every month, so they overlap. 10 years removed from school, 108 credits want to finish my business/finance degree - swalke321 - 10-08-2015 I took the Psychology of Women TECEP and found it to be doable even with the essays. I studied the recommended book and did well. I was nervous with the TECEPs at first but I find that they are doable, not too difficult. It varies based on the subject matter and if you have previous knowledge. Grouping exams based on similar material is helpful for studying. When you sign up for any TESC "course" without being an enrolled student you become an enrolled student 10 days after the semester begins. So approximately 10 days after the Nov. semester begins your student status should automatically change to enrolled student and remain that way for 12 months. I haven't failed any TECEPs but I'm guessing since the enrollment happens automatically even if you do not pass your TECEP you should still be an enrolled student. Only passed TECEPs will count towards residency credits. If you take another TECEP within that 12 month period your enrollment will automatically extend another 12 months. The 6 months is the enrolment deadline. Most students after applying become applicants and then must enroll within 6 months or they have to reapply. Usually TESC will send out an e-mail with instructions to schedule exams with Proctor U. Make sure you check the Proctor U requirements and process on Proctor U's website before taking an exam. I have a laptop with built in webcam so I needed a reflective surface so they can check the edges of the computer. I did not know that until 5 minutes before my exam. 10 years removed from school, 108 credits want to finish my business/finance degree - infoe36069 - 10-13-2015 dfrecore Wrote:I think you have 6 months unless you are military, then you get a year.
