RE: UMPI - any4yeardegree - 12-31-2020

Has anyone transferred ACE-approved credits to UMPI other than Sophia and CLEP?

They have an agreement with StraighterLine.

I will say that the English classes, American Government, and science classes will be much easier and far less work at UMPI. I say this from experience as I've taken them. I'll be taking Spanish next month at UMPI.

RE: UMPI - adegree4me - 01-01-2021

UMPI is extremely generous with their transfer credits! I just had 99.66 transferred in.

Yep! you have to take 30 residency credits. So by the time I graduate I'll have 129.66 credits.

@ss20ts, very good to know as I am deficient in all of subjects.  I was debating taking my ENG and POS classes at Sophia or UMPI, though I'm unsure if Sophia has any classes that qualify as POS.  I had definitely not considered UMPI for the science classes but now you've got my thoughts brewing.

I registered for the $149 promo at Sophia so I could knock out my remaining GECs (minus BIO) because I can't afford more than three 8-week sessions at UMPI unless I become employed soon.

Are you able to get financial aid? UMPI accepts pell grants. and they also have new student scholarships and transfer student scholarships.

The BIO class from saylor is my question is it works to fill this UMPI requirement.

@gams007, the UMPI website says you can transfer an unlimited number of credits, however, you must take at least 30 credits in residence at UMPI, as @adegree4me noted.  I think someone on this forum attending UMPI has approximately 180 credits.  Maybe @ss20ts?

@adegree4me, Thank you for your suggestions!  I definitely do not qualify for a pell grant.  I will investigate the other options.  If I return to work this year, I could cover the additional expenses.  It's toss up as to whether I should return to work this year as I've had some health challenges.  As well, I have two kids in college and I don't want to impact their potential financial assistance.
