RE: New Goal: BS IT-Security at WGU. - jsd - 10-10-2017 I'll probably hold off on ICND2 for next term. I'm sitting for Project+ tonight. To be honest I'm not feeling particularly comfortable... for example I'm not doing a very good job of keeping track of what information goes into what project documents, since there's so much overlap and some information goes into seemingly every document produced, and other information goes into only one or two documents, and I'm mixing them all up. It'll be funny if Project+ is the first certification exam I fail, since it's fairly basic and not at all a technical cert, but it looks like it's a possibility at this point. I have around 16 weeks left in my term, so I have plenty of time to knock out a bunch of the easy stuff before going back to the dreaded Cisco stuff. RE: New Goal: BS IT-Security at WGU. - jsd - 10-10-2017 I was worried for nothing! Needed 710, scored 829. Another 4 CUs in the books. In just about a week, I've completed 14 CUs. It will be a fun convo with my student mentor tomorrow! Thanks again, @Thorne! Your Proj+ notes were perfect for the last minute cramming I needed! I owe you a beer (or coffee? whatever it is you like). RE: New Goal: BS IT-Security at WGU. - Thorne - 10-10-2017 (10-10-2017, 10:05 PM)jsd Wrote: I was worried for nothing! Congrats! I'll take a virtual coffee. Feel free to pass those notes out to whomever you wish (same goes for anything I post), I'm honestly just happy that they helped at least one other person. When I took the CCNP exams, I think the highest cut was the TSHOOT with an 830. I need to renew soon (July/2018 is 1 year from expiration, and I'd rather renew it than wait and gamble with time). I hated ROUTE and barely felt good about SWITCH but I like TSHOOT since it actually lets me work versus multiple guess questions in the weeds. Mine expires at the end of the month, cut it a bit too close on that one! The only thing I recall from the test that I didn't study much for was 802.1X. TSHOOT was just plain fun, though.(10-11-2017, 02:20 PM)Thorne Wrote: Which exam did you take? I'm torn on what to do next. On one hand, my CCNP has yet to give me a good return on my investment. On the other hand, I'm two tests away from the CCDP (have to take the CCDA DESGN exam and the CCDP ARCH exam to get it). I have to spend ~$300 to recertify anyway, so why not spend $600 and have another cert to boot? RE: New Goal: BS IT-Security at WGU. - jsd - 10-23-2017 I've been working on C170 Data Management - Applications since passing Project+ I've had a cold or some weird bug for the past couple weeks, so I've moving a little slow through the material, but I think I'm doing ok. This course needs both a project and an exam. I submitted the project on Friday night and had it accepted Sunday afternoon. I scheduled the exam for Tuesday night, but I'm a little nervous because I'm not sure if I'll finish the material by then and I certainly won't have time to really review my weak areas. We'll see how it goes. RE: New Goal: BS IT-Security at WGU. - jsd - 10-24-2017 C170 is all done and behind me now! but wowza, that was a sticky exam. I took the practice exam this morning and it was a breeze, I understood everything just fine and got a great score. but on the real exam, i got some funky wording on some things (and legit brainfarts on other things I should have known better on), and it was a much more difficult exam than the practice. I passed none the less. I have a call with my mentor tomorrow. i'm not sure what I'll tackle next (I still have a month in a half left in my term and am ahead of the on time progress by 6cr), so i'll see what he has in mind and see if I like that idea. RE: New Goal: BS IT-Security at WGU. - jsd - 10-28-2017 Thorne, did you go through C179 Business of IT - Applications? It seems pretty straightforward (if boring), but I was wondering if there were any pitfalls I should be aware of? |
