SUNY accepted upper level class - jg_nuy - 03-04-2024

Hello - my friend’s daughter needs one more upper level class to graduate. Has anyone has any luck completing a self paced class and transferring it into SUNY recently? They don’t accept Sophia.

Just curious.  SUNY do not accept Sophia courses for transfer at all?  Or is the case of Sophia courses can transfer to SUNY but only as lower level credit?

Nearly everything is lower lower. The only class marked as upper level on Sophia is principles of management and that is a lower level class at nearly all SUNY schools.

What does SUNY accept for transfer credit? If they're interested in exams... Would it be better to take a TECEP and call it a day?

SUNY accept NCCRS credit. Fastest and cheapest is Lawshelf courses.  Do confirm and let us know.

I’ll have them check NCCRS sources like Lawshelf. Thanks!

CLEP comes in at lower level.

Tons of state schools do not accept Sophia or ACE credits at all

It has become more flexible in New York State, but it's almost always case-by-case. As I mentioned earlier, anything they accept so far is lower level.

Not completely sure about SUNY transfers, someone should check, but if they accept the following, it may be best to decide from a few options due to cost, ease, speed, or a mix of them. Most providers we recommend will have lower level class options such as Sophia.org and StraighterLine, CLEP/MS, and so on...

For RA exam, go TECEP, RA class, go ASU UL. NA classes can be done with a whole slew of colleges, universities that have DEAC or something similar. ACE, your usual options such as Study.com, Saylor.org and all. NCCRS, you can add Genesis University to Coopersmith, Davar, LawShelf, Onlinedegree.com...

One more thing. You can check the course equivalents granted to NCCRS or ACE  courses for some SUNY Colleges here :

Empire State University is the most informative.
