81 Courses in 24 Hours - Alpha - 09-04-2022 We may need to pay close attention to our definition of "course" in this story but it seems an impressive feat in any case. Kerala Woman Completes 81 Online Courses in 24 Hours, Creates Unique World Record (news18.com) RE: 81 Courses in 24 Hours - dfrecore - 09-04-2022 Since there was zero info on what those "courses" equate to, I'm not impressed. RE: 81 Courses in 24 Hours - ss20ts - 09-04-2022 Things like this make a complete mockery of online learning. We wouldn't know, since we don't even know that these were online courses. They could have been exams (think GRE, which was worth 30cr at EU at one time - 12cr LL and 18cr UL). You could conceivably count that 30cr as 10 courses. I can see that she's excited to break a world record, but I don't think this is the type of publicity that online learning is desiring. Plus, it says she achieved certificates. Not sure what that means and how it would translate into courses but...good for her. In other news, how do I delete a post on this forum. You don't. If you're inside the editing period, you can clear out the text (I think you have to have a minimal amount). Got it, thanks. Managed to make edits to my response from negative to more constructive. RE: 81 Courses in 24 Hours - debrag - 09-05-2022 I can complete certificates in a few minutes. They aren't for credit but they are needed for work. Can I go after this world record as we have no clue what courses/certificates she took. Can I go after this world record as we have no clue what courses/certificates she took. Yes. Please keep us updated once you start. I'd like to think that she did it purposefully to show the silliness of the system. In India these sorts of "courses" are not what we would describe as "courses." There is also a huge market in fake degrees. Some of these are forgeries of real universities and some are entirely invented universities. These credentials are used to show some type of expertise but it's not clear that they do anything of the sort. Some people are upset that this gives a bad name to online learning but if she can actually complete all these credentials in 24 hours then perhaps online learning deserves the bad reputation it gets, at least in that part of the world. India is trying to clean up its act but as we know from the Axact scandal, there's a lot of money involved. RE: 81 Courses in 24 Hours - MichaelGates - 09-05-2022 For the record she attempted courses offered by Facebook, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, CISCO, etc. The courses were mostly based on digital marketing and finance. Most multiple choice questions. |
