So I received my "Unofficial" Audit LOL - learningthehardway - 05-22-2022

So recently I just happen to be checking Mainstreet and noticed that it had a section called "Degree Progress" and clicked it. It said I have 80 of my 120 credits completed. So I was like  Idea Let me take a look! What do you know, it has all the GEC stuff I have completed and need to complete as well as some other things. I meet with Jessica I believe tomorrow or Tuesday. I can't remember, it's on my calendar at work. Based on what I have read though I need these courses. Oh, and I am doing BLS Minor in Management.

English II/121

Art/Photography

Bio with Lab

World Religion/Sociology/Human Geography/World Geography (Deciding on which to take)

Spanish (Currently Taking On Sophia)

American Government

21 Upper-Level Credits (No clue what I want to take)

What it didn't show I need was the 18 credits for my Minor. I have Project Management That Came in and Business Comm that came in as well. So I believe of that list I will need...

Bus240 Change Management (I think this is exchanged. I am editing because I noticed I can choose Business Law I instead, but then I will need 24 UL credits, So I might leave this)
Bus260 Leadership
Bus341 Human Resource Management
Bus415 Operations Management

I don't know how it says I only need 40 of the 120 left. It clearly looks like I have WAY more lol. Looking like I really need 52 credits lol. Is my math bad? Or is that right?
Also any idea of some super easy level UL classes. Any idea on what classes I should take away from UMPI vs the classes I should take at the school. I already started Spanish on Sophia, I am about halfway through. Just gotta do 1 more Milestone and all my touchstones lol. I was considering Art or Photography at UMPI. I am actually a photographer and artist of 11 and 27 years so I am sure I could pass those entry-level courses easily to knock out 1 of the 10 classes I need at the school. The rest outside of Art/Photography and Spanish are a mystery to me on where and what. Thanks for any help.

Oh hey, that's very easy to complete or map out... Here's an example to get 3 minors, Management, Project Management, and MIS.  As per your previous posts, you may want to get a double minor in Management and MIS or something different. Read this post and post #29 below it to review my example, Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-300-400-level-deadline-for-enrollment-is-May-3?pid=365771#pid365771

Having said that, I'll recommend you the following: Email Jessica and switch to the BAS instead of staying with the BLS and add the MIS minor.  The reason is multi-fold, partly because you're using YourPace courses to get into a butt-in-seat degree program.  You can also add a freebie AALS as a second program and "forget it" as the courses you take will get you that second Associates free.

Another reason for the change from BLS to BAS is because of the requirements, last but not least is the name may sound better.  UMPI BAS requires only 18 UL total, it's their answer to and their version of a TESU BALS.  UMPI BLS requires 30 UL, it's similar to COSC BSGS/Excelsior BSLA, so for people looking at COSC/Excelsior may want to take the UMPI BLS instead, others looking at TESU BALS can take a look at the UMPI BAS if they have an AAS already.  I've talked briefly about the differences between BAS and BLS here: Residency Required Hours (degreeforum.net)

RE: So I received my "Unofficial" Audit LOL - learningthehardway - 05-22-2022

I have my AAS from Pierpont. Do you think that I would have the 40 required Technical Credits they require? I don't know how they judge what a Technical Credit is. Is that meaning Technology? Sorry for the confusion but I am confused hahaha. I do know I would qualify for the BAS as someone said you need an AAS to get the BAS. I wouldn't mind getting the AALS degree to tag along, that would be a nice bonus.

My other question is what is an MIS minor? I only knew about management and project management. I am considering an MS in HR or something similar since I plan on going into the HR field at some point soon and switching from sales. I have been in the health insurance business with sales for so long that I figured I would move into a Benefits HR role soon.

Do you think the change would be great for me? I am trying to complete everything for a little out of pocket and as few classes as needed. I am going to check out those posts you recommended too! Sorry for chatting so much. This is all still new to me.

Okay, I found what I was looking for. It is here. It says I need 40 credits in a technical field. https://www.umpi.edu/files/academics/programs/Program_Requirements_TA/Latest/Bachelor_of_Applied_Science_BAS.pdf

I think that is what originally deterred me from the BAS. I have the AAS so that wasn't an issue but I wasn't sure what the 40 credits were regarding the "Technical Field" on the form. They don't have it listed on the page itself for the BAS, and don't really explain what it means anywhere.

You can't go by what's displayed on MaineStreet. That's for on campus students. Jessica will provide you with a degree audit and email it to you.

RE: So I received my "Unofficial" Audit LOL - bjcheung77 - 05-22-2022

@learningthehardway, that attachment is correct, they're looking for "technical" courses. However, to be more clear, the AAS is generally a terminal degree and most of the courses required (at least 39 credits) are in non arts/science or general education courses. They're generally applied or technical in nature, and supposed to get the student ready for the work force... Having said that, there are many schools who will take AAS into their regular BA/BS or a continuation onto a BAS, again an applied science degree...

Got it! Thanks a ton! I talk to Jessica today, so wish me luck! My BOG AAS is full of GenEd and Arts/Science stuff lol. Like 3 or 4 maths, 3 histories, 2 art histories, 2 econs, 3 communications (english) and I think like 18 Business, is how I got them concentration in business. It is only a few professional credits.

So NOW I received my OFFICIAL AUDIT lol - learningthehardway - 05-24-2022

Hi, Hope everyone is having a Good Day!

I received my official degree audit. I have attached it. Basically, I need 17 classes.

6 GEC Classes
4 Minor Classes
7 UL Classes

With GenEd, I am currently taking Spanish I with Sophia and plan on taking English II with ONU. I applied and just waiting for my approval letter and stuff.
So that will leave me with...

4 GEC
4 Minor
7 UL Classes

I have to take 10 classes with them and can take the other 5 outside of the school. Do you know which 5 I should take away from UMPI and what 10 with UMPI? I hear talks of doing American Government via CLEP/InstantCert but how easy/difficult is that. My goal is the path of least resistance. I am obtaining the degree for a job position I want to apply for. I was told I have well over the qualifications needed, I just need a Bach Degree and I am an instant hire. So I don't want a super difficult long, drawn-out process if that makes any sense. Even trying to find Exam based UL courses at UMPI to avoid papers/projects (though I know it isn't likely to fulfill them all).

I hope this information helps. Cheers.

Edited:
I start during fall one on August 29th, 2022. So the goal is to complete EVERYTHING else this summer so when I start come August I only have the 10 classes. Is it possible to finish 10 classes in 1 term or is that more of a 2-term deal? Also if anyone is planning on walking during Graduation 2023, I hope to see you there lol.

We are on the same track! I am also starting 8/29 and am using the Summer to complete all outside credits that I can so I will start UMPI with needing 10 courses! You can take Business Law on Sophia to count for BUS 350.

Cool. Yeah I completed BUS Law. It's on my Audit already at the bottom.
