The iPad my secret weapon - ryoder - 02-05-2011 I have been posting about testing and learning success but I haven't given enough credit to my trusty iPad. I'm using it right now. It's my eBook reader, Internet device and I use it to do flashcards. I also have a computer hooked up to a 42" LCD with a reclining couch. These two setups allow me to study without fatigue for hours at a time. The battery life on the iPad is exceptional and you can read it outside by the pool or while on the treadmill. Just wanted to let you guys know how it has helped me. The iPad my secret weapon - P00057870 - 02-05-2011 Thanks. It is always nice to know how others are using these new technologies. The iPad my secret weapon - MA2 - 02-05-2011 Just bought some of that expensive Apple stock, huh? The iPad my secret weapon - ryoder - 02-05-2011 Nope I hate Apple. I am a MSFT fan through and through. I got the iPad solely as an ebook reader that was capable of reading the books that USF sells here in Tampa. They do not work on a normal ebook reader, only a real computer which the iPad sort of is. It is an excellent piece of hardware though. Once you get past its purposefully built in limitations with file storage, no flash etc. It actually does what it does extremely well. I am a total MSFT guy but I build Java applications running on Linux systems at work and use an iPad. Go figure. The iPad my secret weapon - burbuja0512 - 02-05-2011 The iPad on the treadmill, eh? Much more skilled than I am. I would probably fall on my face and break it lol. I don't have an iPad, but I do use my iPhone to study while I'm working out. Instead of rocking out to music, I am listening to youtube lectures for whatever topic I happening to be studying. The iPad my secret weapon - ryoder - 02-06-2011 Actually i use it on the elliptical at home. I have used it on the treadmill at the gym. I can't seem to find a lot of good podcasts that are actually relevant. It would be nice if all ebooks had an audio component. I would buy more ebooks. The iPad my secret weapon - burbuja0512 - 02-06-2011 So if you're holding it while on the elliptical, then you're not working out your arms? Ha ha.. sorry just kidding. I am going to ask my husband to borrow his iPad and try it. I'm still not sure that I'm coordinated enough, but I'll give it a try! Up to 18 credits since 1/19 and I have 12 or so more in the next two weeks that I'm trying to get. The only way I've been able to keep up this pace is because I am literally studying every waking moment except while I'm working. (yes and sneaking in a study break or three during work) If I can manage an iPad while in the gym, it would be wonderful!! The iPad my secret weapon - FilMor - 02-07-2011 Just get a Nook Color and put android on it.. it's the best device to read in the market IMO and for $250 you cant go wrong. I've been using a 6" Kindle3 the past week (great screen!) but it's just a bit too small for reading and no touch-screen. I'm still deciding on the Ipad/Ipad2 or Nook. Cost is a big factor at the moment. When you installed 3.0 on the Nook, are you booting off an SD or actually re-flashing the ROM? |JoHn| The iPad my secret weapon - burbuja0512 - 02-07-2011 My DH is the one with the iPad, so I'm not a huge user, but I thought apps were the reasons most people buy them. A reader is just one of many cool apps. If you're only buying it to read... why spend the money? Get the nook or the Kindle or whatever... DH has some awesome games though and I question whether the iPad competitors will ever have quite as many, so if it were me, I would spend the cash and go with iPad. |
