  TESC & Cumulative GPA
Posted by: Matymus - 04-18-2007, 04:57 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

I'm curious to find out from those who have TESC undergrad degrees...do they offer a GPA if you use CLEP or DSST to test out of most of their requirements? Any idea how this works?

Has anyone taken this? What would be the best way to study up for this exam - I don't think REA has a book and I don't think its covered on IC.

  CLEP Results with Essay?
Posted by: dseiler - 04-18-2007, 08:16 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

Anyone take the EC with Essay? How long does it take to get test results? I know the standard CBTs inform you as soon as your done.

How long does it usually take for CLEP to report the scores to the college?

Newbie questions, but I couldn't find anything on the boards...

Anyone who is taking the humanities test might want to look at Allposter.com click on fine art and then select by period. You can view all the major artist by period. The visual really helped me.

  Public Speaking notes (feedback included)

Well, I just took the Public Speaking DANTES yesterday. YIKES! haha I read all the posts I found here on the forum. And I studied the resources many of you suggested. So thank you, thank you for that. I really do appreciate all the info and hints people provide! Smile

And, actually, my topic for the speech was not one of the ones on here. I had to support the position of a 12 month school year. They did not give me the option of being against it. And they also told me who my audience was.

As for the multiple choice part. Like everyone else has said, know the different kinds of speeches, know the terminology. And you'll be all set. Rolleyes

The best resource I used was The Art of Public Speaking I had actually bought a textbook, The Elements of Public Speaking, and I realized as I compared the contents of these two books, that they're very much the same. And this one is online and free. And really, you only have to read the summary of each chapter. They also have study questions and flashcards that were very helpful.

So now comes the wait. We'll see.

Has anyone out there tried the Chemistry CLEP? Any tips to offer? It's a little bit daunting for me considering my rusty science skills....

Anybody Getting a Good Job with Distance Learning Degrees?
Posted by: sweetgirl_19 - 04-17-2007, 12:34 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (25)

The validating question for this whole "Is-distance-learning-accredited?" discussion: do you have a personal testimony or do you have any friends/family/classmates who have graduated with a distance learning degree and landed a good job?

  Anyone for NY Language Exam?
Posted by: sweetgirl_19 - 04-17-2007, 12:13 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

Has anyone out there ever taken a NY Language Exam? A little different than CLEPs or DANTES, I've heard. From what I understand, NY Language Exams are for those atypical collge langage course (i.e. Chinese, Arabic, etc.). The three portions to the test are reading, writing and listening, and one may earn 6-16 (???) credits. Anybody with experience?
