DSST Principles of Finance - Memorize ratios?
Posted by: mstcrow5429 - 12-09-2007, 08:29 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Will I need to memorize the profitability ratios (profit margin, return on assets, return on equity), asset utilization ratios (receivable turnover, average collection period, inventory turnover, fixed asset turnover, total asset turnover), liquidity ratios (current ratio, quick ratio), and debt utilization ratios (debt to total assets, times interest earned, fixed change coverage)? Or just basic ones, such as the current and quick ratio? I have a financial calculator (HP 10bII), it can do TVM, NPV, IRR/YR, but don't see that it has any built-in ratios. Thanks.

  Double Boosting Your GPA?
Posted by: BMWGuinness - 12-08-2007, 11:47 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - No Replies

Is it possible to boost your GPA with a second degree?

My friend has a low GPA, and he want to boost his GPA. I told him to check out Excelsior, as they award grades for certain examinations. He wants to get into an MBA program.

Could you boost your gpa twice by obtaining high marks in a general degree, and then obtaining high marks in a second degree in business?

I know certain MBA programs do not require GPA. But what about the ones that do.

  Am I addicted?
Posted by: Shadowless - 12-08-2007, 04:21 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (14)

All I think about, well not all but I spend a majority of time thinking about clep and dante tests. Even after I pass one and I'm full of joy and happyness for a day or two I again start thinking about the next one I can take and hopefully pass. Am I greedy? Does anyone feel like this? Right now I am at work and plan on studying for Organizational Dante and try to take that Tuesday. I just wish there was a way we could take these tests from our home computer but obviously cheating would hinger that from happening.

I guess part of me wants to take these tests because now I see a light at the end of the tunnel in terms of actually obtaining an Bachelors degree.

Number of Questions on each test
Posted by: Shadowless - 12-08-2007, 09:59 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Does anyone know an estimate of questions on each test? Like I know the majority of them have over a 100 but does anyone remember how many questions were on the different tests they took? And roughly how long it took them to complete said test?

I am trying to decide on Personal Finance, Organizational Behavior or Business Math to take next.

Once you have applied, how long does an evaluation take?
Posted by: BMWGuinness - 12-07-2007, 02:13 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (5)

I have put in an application to Excelsior and to TESC.

Excelsior BS Liberal Studies
TESC BA Liberal Studies

All transcripts should be received in the next week.

How long does it take to hear back with an evaluation once the transcripts have been received?

  Principles of Microeconomics...
Posted by: JChoisnet - 12-07-2007, 09:34 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (10)

I am a newbie to Instacert. One of the directors at my place of work swears by Instacert, so I figured I would give it a shot. My question is...Has anyone taken the Principles of Micro/Macroeconomics CLEP test and passed it using the Instacert study guides? I failed Macro the first time I took it through CLEP and am quite concerned about taking Micro. I used a different study guide and obviously it did not work for me. I am open to suggestions, etc.

Thank You,
Janet
