  Study together...
Posted by: will2k - 01-17-2008, 07:01 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (11)

I was wondering if there are any people near my area that would like to study (IC, Text, etc...) at a library together on CLEP/DSST tests. I am located in Fairfield, CA. Travis Air Force base. There is also a electronic test center there. Smile

Posted by: Shadowless - 01-17-2008, 03:22 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

Is there a site that shows how many questions are on each test? Trying to see how many questions are on different exams.

Also just curious on which exams people were able to complete in 45 mins or less?

  TECEP English Composition I question
Posted by: Southpaw - 01-17-2008, 01:44 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

I have read that this test satisfies Excelsiors written English requirement. I have searched through the forum and the TESC site and have not found the answer to my question so I'm hoping someone here knows. Does anyone know how long the TECEP English Composition I test takes to be graded and receive a score? Thanks in advance.

  Astronomy
Posted by: Shadowless - 01-17-2008, 11:50 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (2)

I am currently trying my best to study for this dante test, I have looked over the exam feedback forum and found some information. But as usuall there are conflicting results. For example

1. What was the type of the first telescope ever used?
2. How far is the sun from the nearest galaxy?
3. Who is considered the father of astronomy?
4. What planet does not have rings around it...your given
choices... be sure to choose Mercury!!!
5. What planet has such and such moon in its orbit?

I tired to find some of these answers to help me study and came up with different answers.

1. Is it Nimrud Lens, or Visby lenses. Is it Perspicillum? Just can't get a def answer and also who invented it? Was it Galilep or Digges?

2. Is it 60,000 light years or 2.7 million light years? Can't get a definite answer.

3. This was the worse, it is Copperncuis? Brache who I would think or is it Galileo?

4. Answer given.

5. Need to research more.

I guess I am having a really hard time figuring out what to study and what not to study, currently I am reading the Cliff notes that go through the sun and all the planets. Can anyone help or suggest other avenues? I really would like to pass this test.

Thank you so much for all your time and dedication to posters like myself who are sometimes clueless.

English composition CLEP: one or two semesters?
Posted by: Dietrich - 01-17-2008, 11:11 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

The CLEP website says that most CLEP tests are designed to cover material taught in a one semester course, and I can't make sure from the description of the English Comp CLEP whether it covers one or two semesters.

Anyone take DSST Fund. of College Algebra?
Posted by: GettinMyBA - 01-17-2008, 02:04 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (8)

Anyone take this? There's only 1 (very scary) comment in the exam-specific forum. There's no IC practice for this one but I checked out the DSST Fact Sheet sample questions and.... OH MY GOD! I need this test specifically - the CLEP Algebra won't work because TESC codes it as equivalent to a (classroom) Algebra class that I took a few years ago. I don't even know where to start my cramming - I really don't wanna do istudysmart.com's $169 if I can avoid it.
Thanks for any suggestions and/or feedback on this DANTES! Wink

Opinion on CLEP Humanities vs Analyzing Lit
Posted by: StealingDreams - 01-17-2008, 01:32 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (9)

So in your personal opinion and experience which is easier, CLEP Humanities or CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature?

They are both worth 6 credits and I feel A&I would take less study time aka I could take it next week where Humanities would take some name memorization and art and architexture cramming. I feel confidant in my comprehension and in interpretation skills but is it significantly more difficult? I also ask because I plan on takeing 10 exams over next 3 weeks and am trying to get as many done as possible without having to spread my study focus too thin.

Also I wanted to make a poll.
