Another Mexican university: Instituto Universitario del Estado de México IUEM
Posted by: Avidreader - 07-02-2025, 02:16 AM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (3)

Yup, yet another accredited brick & mortar private university in Mexico offering online degrees. All degrees have RVOE so they should be RA equivalent and are taught in Spanish. Tuition seems to be 2200 mxn a month (around 110 USD) for bachelors, 3600 mxn (around 200 USD) a month for masters and specialty degrees 3000 mxn a month (160 USD). There is a 2300 mxn inscription fee. Not sure if 1 time payment or every few months. Sign ups is done online sending scanned documents of junior high, highschool degrees. Seems like they forcibly require a CURP number.

Full estimated cost of degrees:

Bachelors 75,600 MXN (4000 USD)
Masters 64,800 MXN (3400 USD)
Specialties 36,000 MXN (2000 USD)

Doctorates: 4650 MXN a month.

Bachelors degrees:

Business administration
Accounting
Communications
Law
Gastronomy (I am intrigued how this degree can be fully done online)
Digital graphics design
Corporative management
Marketing
Education
Psychology
Industrial engineering and systems

Masters degrees:

Public administration
Communication and digital marketing
Administrative and fiscal law
Constitutional and amparo law
Fiscal law
Business law
Penal law
Higher education
Business management and company development
Marketing and business communication
Applied neuromarketing

Doctorate degrees:

Public educational administration

Specialties:

Employment law and social security
Oral trials (juicios orales)

Bachelors work under quarter semesters and can be completed in 3 years. Masters can be done in 18 months. One aspect that makes this university stand apart from other options is it is a go at your own pace school. Degrees can't be completed in less time due to accrediting requirements but the fact it is so flexible for busy adults and affordable might make it a nice option.

Official website:

I am looking at the FAQ and it seems each bachelors course lasts 9 weeks with a weekly assignment, a forum discussion and a multiple choice final exam. Graduation can be done via capstone, thesis or publication of an article on an indexed science journal. They might also waive graduation requirements if the student has masters degree credits. Curiously, there is no minimum age requirement to study in this school, making it an interesting option for underage homeschoolers.

  Associate Degree in Computer Science
Posted by: JoeyCA - 07-01-2025, 07:54 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (1)

Hi everyone. I am new here, looking to complete an RA - Associate degree.(TESU seems great and should be accepted in Canada). I currently hold an NA-Associate Degree (Web design) from New York. I live in Ontario Canada. I need this RA-Associate degree for work promotion. Having this will open doors. In the future, I will consider a Bachelors Degree but for now its not completely required.

Your Location: Ontario Canada
Your Age: 39
What kind of degree do you want?: I want a Associate Degree in Computer(Science or Studies), I have been in this field for ages (I feel old).
Current Regional Accredited Credits: No RA credits only NA credits (I have 81 NA credits)
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: I do have some ACE credits, (I have somewhere around 25 ACE credits)
Any certifications or military experience?: I have Google Ads, Google IT Support, Google Data Analytics
Budget: No restrictions.
Commitments: I am looking to complete this as soon as possible. Busy work, along with wife and kids. This will open all the doors once the degree is from a RA school. Hopefully I can transfer as much as possible.
Dedicated time to study: I can study on weekends if needs be. (8hrs total). I would much rather take computer courses they might require less studying for me personally.
Timeline: As soon as possible.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement:None, I am in Canada.

  Doctoral Degree or Research
Posted by: ROYISAGIRL - 07-01-2025, 04:49 PM - Forum: Doctorate Degree Discussion - Replies (15)

I've been a part of the forum for a while, and I have been thinking about whether getting a Doctoral Degree and having to do a dissertation or just try to write what would in essence be a "dissertation" for a research journal without a school backing.

Which would you do?

TESU - Study.com upper level classes
Posted by: PPR - 07-01-2025, 02:18 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (11)

With advice I got from this board, my teenager is going to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from TESU, as his fastest path to graduation. He only lacks 4 upper level classes to take before applying. I am trying to determine what study.com courses TESU would consider to meet the UL BALS needs. Do the criminal justice courses count? What about anything in the healthcare management courses? Otherwise, he will be taking the history, psychology, and sociology classes. He would really like to do one of the criminal justice upper levels if it counts, so I appreciate if anyone has any insight.

UMPI Proposing 90-Credit YourPace BLS and Applied Psychology BA
Posted by: Jonathan Whatley - 06-30-2025, 05:59 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (33)

The University of Maine at Presque Isle is advancing proposals to offer two 90-credit (90 semester hour) bachelor’s degrees, both in the YourPace CBE format: an Applied Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) and a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology.

The proposals were recently approved by University of Maine System Chancellor Dannel Malloy, and they come as numerous UMS institutions and others are developing 90-credit bachelor’s.

The proposed Applied BLS will consist of

  • General Education Curriculum — 40 credits
  • Minor — 18-24 credits
  • Upper Level Electives — 24 credits
  • General Electives — Remaining credits needed to total 90 credits
The proposed BA in Applied Psychology will consist of
  • General Education Curriculum — 40 credits
  • Psychology Core Requirements — 15 credits
  • Psychology General Concentration — 30 credits (students can choose within a list of psychology and related courses)
  • General Electives — 5 credits (the remaining credits needed to total 90 credits)
The proposed program launch dates in these documents are September 2026. I’d take that as tentative; further outside approvals will be required before launching.

Some graduates will want to go onward from a 90-credit bachelor’s to a 120-credit bachelor’s, especially when 120 is needed for admission to a graduate or professional school. The expectation is that 90-credit bachelor’s graduates will be able to transfer into a 120-credit program similar to how a 60-credit associate’s graduate can do so now.

Edited to add: The proposal was approved by the University of Maine System board.

UMS policy will restrict 90-credit bachelor's programs to adults with some prior earned credit who have been away from college for at least two years, though not necessarily the immediate past two years.

Peach Academy

I recently came across Peach Academy. Has anyone here completed anything from them?  I am not holding my breath in hopes that this will be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I do wonder if any of the courses might be at least a little bit interesting. Without having taken a course, it looks on the surface that it might be similar to Alison.
