#1
hello, i'm from Viet Nam. I'm so excited with this site. I'm learning the way to get degree by exams now. I think I'm lost.

ex: I want to get degree of Associate in Science, Computer Technology, at Exelsior.

can I just take all exams from Exelsior?

why do you guys take exams from clep, dsst? why not just from ece or tesc?

Thanks, Tri.

Because they are hard and expensive.

Welcome! First of all I don't believe ECE's are available to cover all the gen ed requirements. They do have degree specific core classes and concentration classes available, but I also believe a few of those may not be offered in the business area. I think I read that somewhere. But mostly it is the expense and specific test center requirements for the ECE's. Everyone may not have a Pearson Vue test center near them, however most colleges or universities will be available test centers for the CLEP and DSST exams. Then you have the cost issue. You can take an average of 2.5 CLEP or DSST exams for each single ECE. So if you are paying your own way this is a much more economical way to earn your credits. ECE's are more involved and theory based exams with more scenarios. So instead of just knowing the theories behind the material you have to be able to put it to use. They are usually longer more involved exams. Good luck on your journey!
