#1
what bachelors degree would you get that is the makes the most money?
Im heading towards psychology and starting to get scared as there is no jobs even at masters levels it seems.
Am I wrong or just a little disturbed due to the current job market?
I love the psychology field but at this point i need to feed my family.
What would your choices be?
thanks

Fastest Growing Jobs With a Bachelor's Degree

For my money, Business Administration covers a lot of playing field, both in the private & public arena.

IMO, it's better to find something that will never go away rather than chasing trends. Fields that revolve around healthcare, food, water, power, education, business management, etc. may have their ups and downs but they will always be necessary. (Yes, I count good leadership as necessary as electricity.Big Grin )

Computers and tech fields are iffy. Of course technology fields are only ever growing, but the specifics are constantly changing. To wit, the knowledge and training possessed by a new graduate today will be obsolete in 5 years. It's important for anyone in any field to be constantly training and adapting to new developments and the changing world, but for tech guys it is far more critical than most.

Seriously I know your not even kidding about the tech field. I worked in it for about 2 years and burned out 6 months in hilarious .
One month you need this cert and by the time you get it, its obsolete. Then you need to study for the next one. Then the employer scratches that database and moves onto a new system because the outsource idiot during lunch mentioned it. I was looking at the business one as Gary mentioned but god do i hate numbers. Im happy in the field of social service dont get me wrong. But i know so many masters degree level therapists right now working at restaurants to make money. DYFS in our state for example isnt even hiring and yet we have over 900 kids per county on a norm needing placement.
People are interviewing for driving positions in my field with BA's and Masters degree's. My family needs me to make money in the next two years not 4 or 5 years from now when i would get my phd in this field.
Well enough of ranting im off.

I'd say the BSN, but that's not easy to get. You can get the BSN online, but you can't get IN to the program without an RN, which you can't get online. (narrow exception is found at EC, but doesn't work in all states) RNs walk into jobs with zero experience at $25 per hour and full benefits. National average salary for an RN is over $60K, and with a master's degree it can be up near $100K.

Hi Cook,
I saw that too and was interested since its still in the field of helping. But exactly what you said there is no way of getting in without a prior nursing license.
And it takes aprox 1 to 2 years right now to even get into those programs at local community colleges. Everyone and their grandma is signed up.
Thanks though. I am actually going to do a little more reading on that though.

If you have an aptitude for math, engineering can be a lucrative field. It's tough to get an engineering degree through testing or distance, but I've noticed employers will also hire engineers with degrees in mathematics or physics. The big 3 all have math concentrations. Just a thought to add into the mix...

I was always under the impression that you needed a BSN to become an RN. Can a two-year degree from a community college lead to an RN without a bachelors?

I wouldn't mind going back to a community college for a couple years and then getting the BSN online. However, I don't think I can stand being on a waiting list for 2 years.
