Spybot - Search & Destroy is a good program and it's free. You might want to update it first before you run their scan.

The home of Spybot-S&D!

Note: On the download page they mention about donations. You don't have to donate to them unless you want.

Ruddigore Wrote:AVG is a good program, but be prepared: It, like most anti-virus programs, is annoying. I prefer avast! over AVG as far as the program itself goes, but avast! is only free for a month or so until you have to buy it. AVG's basic version is free forever.

Now you have over half a dozen anti-virus programs to research! Big Grin

Not true. I've run avast! For about four years on many PCs and never paid a dime. No ads either. You just have to register--which is free.

I agree that Spybot - Search & Destroy is a wonderful program. I have it running on all of the computers in my house. But: it isn't an antivirus program. It gets rid of spyware and adware, but doesn't protect against viruses.

Still, everybody should have it. It's free and effective, the best combination.

You guys have it all wrong, buy a Mac and you'll never have any problems. Tongue Seriously though, back when I use to run a PC, Trend Micro did the job very well.

If we could only run Microsoft Essentials on our politicians and businesses, we'd be much better off. Maybe in spray form. Or create a Bulls#$% repellent! Entrepreneurs, start your engines.......
