vacation spots

I just got back from the beach and it has me thinking about where everyone else goes. I have been to St. Thomas and know how beautiful the Carribean is ,but where does everyone go in the states? We just got back from Perdido Key, Florida, a great spot just west of Pensacola almost to Alabama. I have been all over the east and west coast of Florida, but Perdido Key is our favorite. What are yours?

I would have to say Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, and Cape Cod are my favorite places to go. The weather is cooler than the DC area in the summer and it is quaint. It has beaches and freshwater areas, lots of activities, and lobster. What more could you ask for? I have been out west a little but would love to spend more time out there exploring and enjoying the great outdoors.

I have to agree with Samsgan. We are packing up to leave the Cape as I type and it is the saddest I've ever felt about going home from a vacation. I love it here!

We just went to the Comic Con In San Diego in the latter part of July and it was awesome! Great Weather, Zoo, Legoland, Seaworld, La Jolla, a very great place all around!

Uh...I live on the beach so when I want a sandy vacation I just walk there hilarious I love the palms and the gusty wind!

........for my 'real' vacations (ones that I actually don't walk to), I stay in state mostly like San Antonio or Houston, but I do want to see the Grand Canyon and other famous US landmarks, like the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty.

I am in Mt Snow, Vermont now it is beutiful. The weather is perfect the view is amazing, the shopping and people are great. I have also been to Snowbird, Utah in August that was also great. I like to visit Myrtle beach, SC in October or November when it is still fairly warm and noone else is there. Phoenix, AZ in December,San Diego in Sept. I don't like the crowds and the hassle of traffic.

Okay...I debated about even posting this, because I'm sure there are plenty of folks here that would think I'm crazy :eek:, but I visited New York City (Manhattan area) last year for the first time, and while I wouldn't call it my favorite vacation spot in the U.S., I definitely think it's worth visiting at least one time. Heck, just the people-watching alone is worth it! LOL hilarious

We did all of the "traditional" things, and among other things I found it very cool to see Times Square all lit up at night, it gave me goosebumps to see the State of Liberty up close, and it was neat to see Grand Central Station after seeing it in so many movies! And even though it was really hot walking around Central Park (in August), it was so beautiful there and neat to see "up close" how huge it is, which we could see from the "Top of the Rock" (Rockefeller Center) rather than standing in line for 2 hours to go to the top of the Empire State Building. It was awesome to visit the American Museum of Natural History (a "must" if you have children), and it was exciting to see an actual Broadway show (we saw "Mama Mia" and it was worth every penny). And oh yeah, I love warm pretzels so that was a treat to get them from the sidewalk vendors... :p

As much as we enjoy Perdido Key, the prettiest place I think I have been is Bar Harbour Maine the 1st week of October. It was beautiful, weather was crisp but comfortable. I was in Halifax, Nova Scotia one year at the end of September, it was pretty also. The Grand Canyon is beyond words it was so enormous. I have been to Egypt and saw the pyramids and sphinx, I have been to Paris, I have actually been all over the Med, thanks to Uncle Sam, but there is no place like home.!!!!!!!!

Not crazy at all. NYC is a blast. I love New Yorkers, they tell it like it is. If you are bored there, there is nowhere you would be entertained. You can go there many times and not do the same thing twice. It isn't relaxing but it can't be beat for livin' it up.
