When did flags on staffs mounted to trucks become a thing? I was out of the US for about 15 years and don't remember them from before I was abroad.
Yesterday I saw two different trucks, one had a single staff mounted centerline behind the cab in the bed, the other had 2 staffs mounted either side of the tailgate in the bed.

I'm in Massachusetts. I drove about and hour and a half west yesterday to Holyoke, I saw the trucks and flags on the drive back.

Rednecks needed something to waste their money on. Honestly, I figured this was only a thing in redneck hellholes like where I live. Where have you been living for the past 15 years?

I live in Jersey and there is a guy that lives near me with a huge flag (and confederate plates).....you'd think you'd get a ticket for that since they hand out tickets like butterscotch for anything dangling from your rearview.

I normally only see sports flags from die-hard fans or Confederate flags on the trucks of rednecks. There is a neo-Confederate resurgence according to organizations that track hate groups, so people may be seeing more truck flags.

Not all truck flags are Confederate flags, though you'll see your share of those too. It's mainly American flags (at least 1) but if they have a second, it's usually either a NC flag or a Confederate flag. My son's is USA. There is a little boy down the street with a battery powered power-wheel toy that you ride. He's about 3. He has 2 USA flags waving off the back.:patriot:

When I used to exhibit plants, people would often get disqualified for using an American flag replica in any sort of arrangement or display. It is considered disrespectful. A classless reproduction. After 9/11, I saw many flag replicas. I saw the point of view of people supporting their country, but I did agree that it was disrespectful toward the flag. Cheap, knocks-offs, being being trashed and not-taken care of.
The thing is, there are protocols for our national symbol. I follow them for my flag. I am not going to tell somehow how to live their life, but you won't find me treating our flag like a rag doll. The symbol is for all of the people under the 50 stars (individual states). I won't disrespect them.
