transcipt frustration-venting straighterline
#1
So i tested out of my ba degree. And im appling to a program that require 2.5 gpa and have made excepts to tesc students in past. They of course have never heard of straighterline. And insist they want a transcript from sl. Even though I have stated they are not a college so they dont issue credit.

"Transcripts are only from colleges, so just TESC and any colleges that went into that degree (transfer credit). They won't ask for credit from SL/CLEP/etc because those are not issuers of credit.Good luck!!" Mrs. Cook- (-thanks for countless advice you have given me throught my journey )

To my SURPRISE AND HORROR straighterline does actually provide transcript with grades. I barely passed by course so i have a transcript full of c and c-!!! I have to have a 2.5 at least to get into the program.

I am praying and hoping that straighterline some how doesnt give them a transcript or states the obviouc they do not award credit so there grades shouldnt matter ( maybe????). Idk any advice or insight..... thanks for listening to me vent.

Straighterline doesn't randomly mail transcripts to people because...well, seriously, because they are not psychic. Mail your TESC transcript to grad school. Wait and see what else they want. If you have COLLEGE CREDIT inside that degree, they may request those transcripts too (to see if you are hiding or burying poor grades).

If they use your SL courses for GPA calculation, I'll fall off my chair. Keep me updated.

Yes please keep us updated if they used your SL courses for GPA calculation. That would be great.

No, hold on. It's not typical for a transfer credit to come in as graded credit OR be calculated in GPA. To earn graded credit at TESC you have to take a graded credit course.

Great point!

I was thinking about taking credited course through Liberty University and transferring it to TESC -for another Liberal Arts Degree. (Calling right now TESC to see if that is posible)

I will call my grad program and check if that would suffice? Or if i have to take a course through TESC.

Am i way off? Thanks again!

you can do this, but it's the exact same thing. It's going to come into TESC as credit, not GPA points. Before you do this, you should be sure your grad school needs you to. You're creating a lot of extra work and cost for yourself. Especially down the road with extra transcripts. Are you sure you can't get into grad school with what you already have? Have you been told "no" in writing by someone?
