Straighterline & Jefferson (JCTC)

I did a search and seen where JCTC changed they way they handle credits from SL. It seems they now will transcript them as letter grades which is great because they accept all of the SL courses. My question is do they require you to take a class thru JCTC in order to get a transcript. I am excited about the FH partnership but they only take 4 classes where as JCTC accepts them all. I really need to Eng Comp I&II so I was hoping to do SL and transcript them to JCTC and then back to my local college. Anyone have any experience with the JCTC route?

JCTC takes them and lists them on your transcript with a letter grade however they don't transcript the classes as if you had taken them at JCTC.

It is essentially what tons of college do with transfer credit like Excelsior.. they will list the credit, the school it came from and the grade but in no way Excelsior transcripts those classes as their own.

The initial idea of SL was amazing, but they found a lot of opposition. Now Mr Smith is looking to make his credits as transferrable as possible but only to the partner schools.

It would be amazing if they did something like Vesi that offers classes and gives you literally over 30 options of schools that you can use to transcript their classes.

Maybe another visionary will do it... we just have to wait and see.

Well I just finished College Algebra with SL for the 2nd time.....my first go round did not go well my final grade the first time was 64 Sad yesterday. The second time was better, I finished with an 82 and I just retook all of the exams today over about 6 hours. Averaging those together will give me a 73 which I hope will award me a C thru Fort HAyes ( I hope it will anyway). Its the only math requirement I have other than statistics, which I plan to do in classroom I hope.

instead of a C that would damage your GPA I would take it as P/F unless the letter grade is strictly necessary.

I need the letter grade unfortunately. I have very few credits right now. The C in algebra and 2 "B"'s in Anatomy I & II.

If you don't have a lot of credits I strongly recommend you retake the class for an A. There are amazing scholarships out there if you have a 3.5 GPA or above i.e PTK scholarship that gives you 3 free classes (12 credits) at Harvard Extension School or full rides if you attend Peru State or Texas A&M kingsville on campus.

Its not possible for me to get an A, I thought of that. They use the average of the final grades in the retakes. Highest I could get would be a B. I thinking of taking a few "easy" "A" classes to get it up to where it needs to be. I'm not looking for a 4.0 GPA, it would be nice though......even a 3.8 would be wonderful. As long as this is my only C grade, I'll be happy. Its the only math I needed (I hope), math is not my strongest subject.
