I'm curious because I only need a 70% to pass my courses for credit, so if my total points total is at or above 700/1000 right before the final, what would be the point of taking the final? I could get a zero and still get credit for the class, correct?

Yes, in theory, you could receive a 0 on your final exam and still pass if you already had 700/1000 points. However, I still tried to do my best on the final because when applying to grad schools some require a grade of B or higher for prerequisites. Although the course doesn't transfer into TESC with a grade, I was hoping grad schools would be willing to look at the score from Straigherline, (although I don't know for sure if it would make a difference).

Yes you still need to take your final exam. Once I tried to convince SL advisor that the final was pointless, especially since SL grades show up as Pass/Fail on TESC transcripts. She said no final, no grade.
«Iâve seen the war». She said with a voice so alien that for a second I thought one of us was being devoured by madness. «It is a circus, a big circus of sadness and solitude»

Like Zenurez said try to get a higher score than 70. I do my best to get at least 80 so If I need to provide a transcript for a job requesting a business degree, I can send it the Straighterline in addition to show my score on business classes.

I have blown through the finals with as low as 50's if I already have a passing grade. I wouldn't be surprised to see Straighterline take the "must pass final" approach to their courses in the future, but until they do I plan to optimize my time. The only transcripts I plan to provide are those from ACE showing P/F.
